Patriotism a false god

The early Christians forsook all military service even if it meant martyrdom. Then with time and apostasy they were assimilated into the world, trading allegiance to Christ's teachings to swearing allegiance to the false idols of nationalism and patriotic duty to false Christs. There is no principle that can be found in the scriptures nor the words from modern seers to support this present war, which is essentially "get them before they get us." I take no pride in any Christian that denies his allegiance to the Son of God for false nationalism and the vain patriotism that accompanies it.

Ron Madson,

Alpine

3. Neocons are big fans of Disraeli. He said the only hope for conservatism
was to channel all the little people using "patriotism" to back the wars that benefitted the wealthy mostly. In other words - without patriotism (or tribalism), the conservative movement doesn't have the number to get elected (since their policies reflect the need of the establishment).

5. Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel
You don't have to polish a diamond. People who are GENUINELY Patriotic do NOT have to run around EVERY day waving the flag, chanting "USA USA" and wearing a flag lapel pin ie. doing ads EVERY day to tell people HOW Patriotic they are.

In my opinion such people are NOT Patriotic, because if they WERE, then WHY do they feel the need to TELL people EVERY day about HOW Patriotic they are?

You don't have to polish a diamond.
