Kolbe to Retire at End of 109th

Wednesday, Nov. 23

Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.), an 11-term lawmaker and the sixth ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced Wednesday that he would retire from public office at the end of the 109th Congress.

Is it one of those 'safe' seats where Republicans can nominate a piece of crap like Jean Shit & win against a charismatic war hero?

8. Kolbe's District...
Kolbe has usually won by fairly comfortable margins (around 60%).

The district itself, though, is much more Democratic:

Gore lost it to Bush 46% - 49% (Nader took 4%)

All I could find for 2004 was that Bush narrowly took it.


Could be a great opportunity for a pick-up.
