Did you listen to AM right wing radio?
The Irony on it was drop dead hilarious:D :P I listened to Pigman's replacement while he's in the rehab and he was saying "This is awful, awful, AWFUL". Continues "we're all family and I help you get through this" what a bunch sheeple jackasses. Then I heard my local Pigman wannabe Bill Cunningham talk about Rush's addiction. He took a caller who claimed to be a thirty year police officer that is currently retired, trying to get sympathy for the Pigman. The caller then said the most closeted racist statement I ever heard "at least he ain't buying them out of a dark alley somewhere". Now why is that a racist statement you ask? I'll explain, where is a "dark alley" located? Why Sasquatch that would be in a poor inner city niehborhoods. Now who lives in poor inner city nieborhoods? That would be African American and Hispanic people Sasquatch. Man I hope Rush goes to the clink because these people diserve it :nopity:

2. I used to listen to late night AM hate radio
when I had to make late night drives, because it kept me wide awake and riled. But I quit, because I was more afraid that I would die from a rage induced aneurysm from listening to that drivel than I was afraid of falling asleep at the wheel. Stay healthy, get your blood pressure checked frequently.

4. On a related issue:
I don't know why no one has commented on a thread I posted earlier regarding a 6 month investigation from the Orlando Sentinel regarding Oxycontin.

Here are some interesting points:

1) The FDA approved the drug in 1995 (A year after the Newt Gingrich revolution) and failed to regulate the marketing of the drug. The marketing progressively targeted a broader patient base, from cancer patients to moderate back pain users.

2) In Florida there has been nearly 600 deaths due to overdoses of the drugs -- 52% of those deaths are white males between the ages of 30 & 60.

Here are interesting excerpts from three article that were printed in the paper today:

"After <Haddox joined Purdue in 1999>, the company continued to distribute thousands of videos titled "From One Pain Patient to Another" that claimed less than 1 percent of patients taking opioids became addicted."

"DEA reports nationwide show prescription drugs are abused almost twice as often as illegal drugs, such as heroin and cocaine. A DEA study stated almost 1 million people said they used OxyContin for nonmedical reasons."

"'This drug is tearing apart families; it is ruining lives; it is stretching the resources of law-enforcement and social services agencies to the absolute limit,' Rogers told the FDA advisory panel last month." (You can almost say the samething about crack cocaine, but is the compassion there for the users of that drug? Of course not.)

"If this was a rash of crimes resulting in death ... we wouldn't stand for it."

6. I've been listening to it off and on lately. It's actually entertaining
now, because the entire Rupublican house of shit is collapsing in on itself. Hearing these "personal responsibility" gurus move from one lame excuse to another to another is just hilarious.

They've got a president who lied to start an unjust war.

They've got an administration of traitors who outted a CIA operative for political payback.

They've got idols like Limbaugh and O'Reilly who are being exposed as completel hypocritical frauds.

And the list just goes on and on. It's like they're always on defense. It's actually funny.

7. You Listen to WLW?/
EWW, my sympathies. I've heard "The Voice of the Common Man" :eyes: by mistake sometimes when I tuned into WLW to hear my REDS play, only to find the game was over, or rain delayed. YUCK.

(I live in the Wash DC area, but after sun goes down in Ohio I can pick up WLW on the radio here so long as there's no rain between here and Ohio)

8. I listen sometimes
I can only get two FM radio stations at my office, so sometimes when they play songs I can't stand, I'll flip over to AM to hear what the dittoheads are ranting about. The family thing freaks me out. Hannity does it, too - he and his callers call each other "Buddy." Are these people are really stupid enough to think Rush and Sean give a rat's ass about them, as in would spend a minute or a dime of their own to help a listener if it wouldn't advance their aims? Apparently they are.

I couldn't help noticing how Hannity backed away from Terri Schindler-Schiavo's father between his radio show and H&C last Thursday. What an asshole.

10. I listen for about 15 minutes at lunchtime .... everyday ...
I call it "opposition research". You can get in 15 minutes what the latest spin/attack is. It does raise my BP so I can't stand to listen to much of it, but I do, just for the purpose of knowing what the LATEST RW rant is. Oddly, havn't listened much since Rush isn't there ...

11. Oh, God YES! Of course..
Of course I do! How are you going to learn what new lie/propaganda they are going to come up with next? (I do agree with another poster however, I can only do it for so long. Then I HAVE to return to some sane radio.)

I really wanted to hear what Rush and Hannity were going to say about Rush’s problems with ESPN and the rumor about his drug use. (This was the week before the Day of Joy and Dancing.) The ESPN story, of course, was just political correctness. Rush and drugs? – not a word from either of them. To quote Ahhnold, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”.

One of my favorites with Rush was his commenting (prior to Wilson’s name or column appearing in the NY Times) that it was reported that the Niger letter was actually a carefully developed scheme to embarrass the US – by French intelligence!

Wow! Almost drove off the road. Had to find this one as soon as I could. Back on the Intel magic carpet I Googled and searched many of the major (i.e., reputable) news organizations and came up with – nothing! Zero. Not a peep. What a shock. Next time I had my usual argument with a friend that adores the bozo, I told him not to listen to Rush because he was a liar, and got hit with, “He’s not. If you have proof, show it to me.” I tossed this one out and had him sputtering. I tell 'ya, it's more fun than kickin’ puppies!

The other day there was some fill-in for Rush, with Hannity following with his 3-hours of B.S.; both going on and on about Ted Kennedy’s “lie, after lie, after lie” speech that morning. The first jerk then said Kennedy was wrong about not having UN support, because they just unanimously voted in the UN to support Bush in Iraq - and Japan was committing billions of dollars in support.

Well, they did, but it was never mentioned what we had to pay to get that vote, and failed to mention that Japan promised only $1.5 billion – enough funds to support what? – ONE WEEK! of the (our) multi-year burden!!

(They also failed to mention that in Gulf War I, the Japanese kicked in about $13 Billion to the coalition effort. That’s 8.6 times what they’re kicking in this time around.)

So, as they are attacking Kennedy for his lack of principles, “hate America”, hate Bush, hate everything; and I’m praying for some dittoheaded listener to call in and ask, “Well, if he’s such an evil traitor and hater of ‘Dubya; then why the hell is ‘Dubya’s dad giving him the "George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service" for Ted's “…consistent... courage (in)...f(ighting)for his principles," and (w)as an "inspiration to all Americans."

God. The pregnant pause alone would have been wonderful.

I think Kennedy should take the Bush award with him everytime he speaks in the well of the Senate, and put it up on the podium as he speaks. That way, every time Novak, Carlson, CNN, Fox takes him on and show video clips, dad’s award is RIGHT THERE on the screen with him.

13. I wouldn't even know where to find it
But I was discussing this by email with a friend in TX this a.m. and here is what she said:

"This is a subject that in order to have a sense of what it's all about, and where we (Dems) are in the scheme of things, you have to listen to the conservative talk shows (as distasteful and painful at it may be). We are light years away from breaking into the massive hold they have on the airwaves. It is a huge lock-up. The liberals have been so vilified by so many for so long, that smashing them to a pulp has become as popular and patriotic as targeting the Commies was during the 50s. We are the current fodder for the masses--their object of ridicule, like the class nerd. It is a successful feeding frenzy in which facts and truth don't matter. And the movement is led by cookie-cutter affable, glib, articulate, bright and extremely skilled hosts who know how to field any and all questions and squash any and all opposition."

14. a laugh a minute
I have just recently travelled thru parts of the USA and while we were on the road whenever I could I would listen to Rush, Dr Laura and finish it off with Michael Savage.
Rush really appeared lame most of the time. The worst insult from him appears to be calling someone a liberal. That was his arguement. Disagree with him - you're a liberal, listen to NPR - liberal etc.
Savage was the funniest. As I was listening to him - and I think he is probably quite an intellegent being - I couldn't help wondering whether some of the outrageously funny things he was saying he actually believed. The scary part is his listeners in all likelihood take his word seriously.
What I found lacking was any "leftwing" talk on the radio while driving around and thru "smalltown" America. I know it has to exist but I couldn't find it.
Loved your country; hate your government. The Shrub will be here in Australia next week and some protests are planned in parliament during his address there.

15. In LA, if you LISTEN to AM, you HAVE to listen to RW radio
That'a all there IS..:(:(:(

It's PATHETIC..90.7 on FM is the only option, but their programming is not hard-hitting like AM.. The AM rightwingers have slipped in the back door.. When the AM stations dumped music a while back, they promoted themselves as NEWS-TALK radio, and at first they were NOT all RW ALL THE TIME.. But NOW they are..Disgusting...and they are not even a bit subtle.. In 2002, KABC had Bill Simon on as CO-HOST for more days than I care to remember.. Guess what they talked about for THREE HOURS AT A TIME??

Radio/TV is nothing more these days than a FREE platform for the republicans to use to trash any and all Democrats who would DARE to run against them..:(

18. Have you noted they are now "anti Union" as well?
I flip around during drive time amd the AM stations are VERY much an organized voice against the striking unions of BOTH the Transit workers and the Supermarket unions. The current line is they should have planned their lives better and it should be temporary worklike what you do in college, not a career. Something about this argument is VERY insulting.
