How do we get there?
We ALL (even freeps) know oil is a finite resource, quickly being depleted. Are we going to let oil companies and the rich destroy this nation with their "bunker" mentality?
They will let this nation and it's people rot if it means protecting their families for two or three generations. As the oil gets scarce they will "bunker" down as they let the rest of the world suffer. Make no mistake about it, the bunkering regressionists will sacrifice millions of lives to protect the consumer culture we now have.
We've got to totally change the dialog in this country from one of who gets rich from what oil to how to we change society to get to a fossil fuel free culture.
A Post Oil Dependent Society IS the future...maybe not in our lifetime but a reality in a few generations.
I for one don't want to saddle future generations of mine with the problems I, my parents and the neocons helped create.
You want fear....there is no terror greater than the thought of continuing in the direction we are headed right now. More and more poor, with one dominant militaristic one-party theocracy in control scrambling to gain control over a ever decreasing resource by any means.
That is more frightening than any "terror threat".
Say it with me....
POST OIL DEPENDANT SOCIETY
Renewable resources Green Living Hydrogen Cheap Solar Power Biomass Fuels (yeasts, agricultural by products) Biodeisel Local Economies based on sustainable localized agriculture including HEMP Public control and access of media and airwaves replace the consumer culture with a producer culture True Democracy and Campaign Finance reform Universal Health care Free education Redistribution of Wealth Ban on ALL WMDS everywhere, end the culture of violence. Spend money on building up people not killing and incarcerating them tightening all emissions and environmental standards with no loopholes End the stranglehold corporations have on our society and government.
Lots of opportunities for creative thought and policy ideas. Lets start thinking like human beings with a future instead of victims with no hope.
Peace on Earth, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from a progressive Democrat.
