Howard Fineman says Rove, at same Xmas party did not act concerned
about any pending charges against him. My first impression was, what the hell were you doing at a Xmas party with Karl Rove? Do these people sleep in the same bed also? Do any of them keep an honest difference between themselves and those in power they are supposed to be watching?

1. "Do these people sleep in the same bed also?"
Yes, double yes...and hell yes....and that is exactly the problem.

2. Good point. No, they hit the same parties together.
Incestuous is the right word here, I think. I despair about our spineless media. Anyway, glad Karl will have a joyous Christmas (not).

3. I think that's how so many of them got so whorish.
They all hang out together; they're pals. They socialize, go to parties, meet for lunch. This is how the Washington Press Corpse gets its access to the pols. And if they ever start doing their jobs, they won't get to go to the parties and the luncheons and the golf games. I believe this is what happened, in particular, to Bob Woodward.

After Watergate, he got to be a big shot, respected journalist, and his fame was his undoing because he was finally assimilated into the Bush Borg. He got so close to them that he couldn't report on them; not only was he protecting his access; he lost his objectivity. He's part of the inner circle he tries to write about as a journalist, which he just can't be any more.

5. Don't they have
a dinner almost every week in Washington where the politicians, press, and other celebrities all get together in a giant hall and tell jokes?

It's all a game anyway. One guy goes away, the next in line gets his shot. If Rove were to ever face any kind of penalty(which he won't), we'll be left with 1000 more Rove's. Just like Osama, or Usama, or CIA agent, or however it is you spell his name.

7. Libby was at Cheney's party, and I am sure he did not look "concerned'
either -- so it's a match :)

14. "suspiciously jolly," I believe, is what he said.
What did they expect, with all the reporters there, even if overly friendly ones?

10. Tweety is doing so much Bush brown nosing, it is sick...
He acts like the war was won yesterday. This isn't the first sham election we've been propagandized with, but none of the bobble heads seems to realize this...

11. Just because you're
at a party with them doesn't mean you're "in bed" with them. You can make an apperance at a party without being on "their team."

12. There's a reason why Fineman won media whore of the year
in 2003.

Nothing has changed. I basically ignore anything the man has to say. Zero credibility.

15. I'll just bet that the roverater
is VERY good at "compartmentalization". In other words, his "party" persona is in a very different place than his "omg I'm about to be indicted" persona.

20. People like Howard Fineman and others do not have to be investigative
journalists. Their offices are at the bars and resta;urants or living rooms. They operate on gossip and work that others have dug up because they are news commentatotors. They feed off others and news coming from Capital Hill, a friend of a relative that works for the Pentagon, C-Span - whatevers. Once in awhile they might open up a file drawer.

OK - this is my guess based on what I've observed, but if you had their connections, their 'in' based on their employers at Time, Newsweek, MSNBC or whatever and you had Capital Hill news outlets, C-Span.

They comment in a propagandizing way for the WH. I don't respect most of them - especially the smirking sardonic ones who still can't get their fill of commenting on Bill, Hillary, and All Gore in the most hateful way.

21. Pardon?
What has Karl got to worry about?
If indicted, he will be pardoned by pResident Evil.

The BFEE cannot afford to have Karl Rove testifying under oath in open court.
