why do liberals back down
from the term liberal? did conservatives do that good of a job smearing the word liberal that people are afraid/embarassed to refer to themselves as one. i'm so tired of hearing the term "progressive!" let's call a spade a spade, i'm a liberal and damn proud of it. both conservatives and liberals have ideas on how to make the country ( the conservatives ideas just happen to suck) and i think both factions think that they're trying to make progress. but, only one of these factions is liberal. if you're a liberal be proud of it, damnit, don't let the conservative smear machine get the best of you.

-end rant-

1. people started associated "positive" things as being conservative
even Democrats do this many times. they claim the Republicans aren't really conservative because they don't balance budgets. this assumes one has to be conservative to do it. rather than just saying balancing budgets is something the liberals did.

3. i just don't think that
conservatives have any right to shame us for being liberal after all the good liberals have done for this country. and i think that we should be prould to be liberal. we shouldn't let the conservatives marinalize our positions by giving in to the smear machine.

2. I don't care!
I call myself a liberal too. That way, I attract more moronic cons, so then I can smear them against the wall of logic.

That's what the term is useful for; fooling cons so you can smear them.
