Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 09:45 PM by TheReligiousLeft
It was me (a college Dem) vs. a college republican. He registered 10 people I registered 12. He complained everyone signed up as a Democrat!
I felt good about spreading Democracy, but it was sad that there were so many people who were not registered and flat out said they didn't want to vote! It is a crazy mixed up world we live in.

2. You Rock!
and I know I speak for most of DU in saying that.
The people who didn't register are either independently wealthy or stupid or both.
Thanks for your efforts!

4. Good for you
now yesterday at the Kucinich shindig in Honolulu, we got a partial
answer to that one...

One kid asked the Congressman why his generation should get
involved, the words used by the kid sent shivers down my back

Seems her generation is pretty much disillusioned by Modern Politics

10. Because they're going to paying the bills for the rest of their lives
if they don't get involved and get this changed.

Oh, and their children and their grandchildren will also be paying.

register as....just kick them in the chin if they register as republicans....or NOT? Good for you :bounce: :hi:

7. Good work!
could you share what state or region you are in? Just curious about the rate of dem. registration.

Yes the rate of intentional nonparticipation is frustrating. Several years ago I was working on a start-up company. The husband of the owner (who was a good friend) was Berkley educated, very politically aware (in fact the FIRST person to raise my awareness of the problems with corporate consolidation of media ownership). He was 40 - and had intentionally... NEVER VOTED! It became a long and sustained project to get him to register. Eventually succeeded (much to his wife's surprise).

9. Eugene Oregon
I guess the University of Oregon generally have high turn out for a college, but I think that is still in the single didgets or maybe the low teens.
I'm glad to hear that fellow ended up voting. I hope these people do too.

Folks- getting people to the POLLS is what matters- every bit of activism you accomplish should be cumalative to that end...

If you do not get VOTERS (and hopefully Democratic ones!) to the polls then nothing works...

Thanks! Great going!!!
