So 215,000 jobs were created in November
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 11:04 AM by Maestro
and * goes on the offensive talking up this "great" economy. (How the heck do you link a Yahoo article?) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051222/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_s_economy;_ylt=An6Pxtn8uzyjTHB6BQwmT_2yFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--

Let's see here. My first question is this:

What kind of jobs were created, seasonal minimum wage jobs or highly skilled professional jobs with pensions and insurance coverage?
Secondly, if the economy is going so well why the spike in gas prices again?
Thirdly, how is this economy going to handly the ever rising debt with which * has saddled generations. In fact this website states that there is no improvement seen in the bleak deficit outlook for the next 10 years. Bleak outlook

So again, is the economy really improving? I don't see it. But in the Orwellian world, * can say what he wants and usually get away with it.

1. Someone has the facts but I think seasonal is never counted and
isn't 250,000 needed to maintain growth?

7. Couldn't tell you.
However, I don't buy the economy is growing. Too many companies laying off people. Grocery goods are more expensive in my opinion because of higher fuel costs. Low income households are more needier than ever. Medical insurance is skyrocketing. The debt is continually increasing. Many companies are outsourcing to remain competetive. My personal income has only increased once in four years. Heating costs continue to rise. It seems pretty bleak to me.

3. Color me unimpressed.
The number of people employed decreased in November. The number of unemployed (not seasonally adjusted) and not in labor force BOTH increased by over 300,000 in November.

10. I certainly hope so.
In my lifetime, I have never seen an administration pathologically lie so much.

14. The 67-year AVERAGE increase would have been 274,000 jobs.
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 02:42 PM by TahitiNut
That would've been equal to the average seasonally-adjusted increase in jobs between October and November since 1939. Not once since the Bushoilini regime took over has the month-to-month seasonally-adjusted increase in jobs met or exceed the average over the last 50-60 years. Not once.

The average increase (seasonally-adjusted, total non-farm employment) between Octover and November is 0.204%. This November's increase was 0.160%. That's not "good" under any definition of "good" I can think of.

I (somewhat irregularly) maintain a number of graphs relating to various economic conditions. Most of them can be viewed at http://members.aol.com/tahitinut/MyCharts.htm

17. Maybe I'm crazy, but...
...with the exception of the Reagan years, it almost looks as if over the past 30 years the employment numbers go up under democrats and down under republicans. Must just be a cooincidence.

20. Nope. You're not crazy. Employment DOES go up with a 'labor-friendly' ...
... President. You can see it in Employee Compensation, like here ...

You can see it in the growth in private employment, like here ...

And you can see how it has recently affected the Social Security Aggregate Wage Base, here ...

The Social Social Security Aggregate Wage Base is the total number of workers paying inot Social Security. This, combined with the Per Capita Wage Base (below), is a way of viewing the health of the Social Security system ... which relies on people working for equitable wages.

19. don't understand
the state of louisiana said the unemployment rate is 17 percent

17 percent

that is close to great depression era stuff

ok, we're only 1 state, but i bet it's no better in mississippi

did they just pull the gulf coast states out of the statistics to make it look better?

kind of how when enron & worldcom stock become worthless, they pull them off the dow jones so the new average isn't suddenly 5,000 or something?
