This is not the sort of endorsement Gephardt should tout.
I just received an e-mail from the Gephardt campaign and in bold letters it says:
"No one works harder than Dick Gephardt in Iowa. ...The end result is that Gephardt is creeping back ahead of Dean in Iowa."
David Yepsen,Des Moines Register

If I were running for office I wouldn't want an endorsement from the likes of David Yepsen. To me it's like getting a big thumbs-up from the Devil. Yepsen has consistantly been a running-dog lacky for the Republican Party here in Iowa for several years. Here's another tid-bit from the same column:"There's also interesting evidence showing Gephardt's centrist views on Iraq are more in tune with rank-and-file Democrats here than Dean's strong anti-war positions."

Who the hell's he writing about? I'm a rank-and-file Democrat and I've opposed the Iraq invasion from day one. I think if Yepsen'd pull his head out of his a** once in awhile he'd find that most of the local anti-war crowd is shifting to Kucinich.

I'm gonna e-mail the Gephardt campaign on this one!

2. I noted that about Yepsen last week
He seems to gravitate towards candidates he thinks Bush can beat, then when they get going, he dumps them. He liked Dean...until the money and the supporters came. Now he likes Gep. Its fishy...and yes I pointed this out when he was backing Dean. Yepsen is not on our side. I support Dean, but its been interesting how Yepsen has been pretty quiet on Clark. Does he fear him the most?

4. Good. Tell us when (if ever) he supports Kerry
then we'll know Kerry's not electable.

3. Your e-mail actually had the following line it?
"No one works harder than Dick Gephardt in Iowa. ...The end result is that Gephardt is creeping back ahead of Dean in Iowa."

I know you say it did, and in bold letters no less, but I still can't believe it. Why would you choose language that touts your LOSING to someone else AND name them?

5. Gephardt knows Iowa very well
Therefore he knows Yepsen very well, and Yepsen knows Iowa, and Yepsen knows Gephardt. If Gephardt chose to highlight the postitive article -- not sure if it's correct to call it an endorsement -- then it's because he thinks it will help him.
