Are there any homosexual freeper types?
I was talking to an employee of my Dad's today. She's a lesbian and I was suprised at how racist she was. I just sorta figured that living a gay lifestyle would naturally have made her more tolerant and left leaning..not so.

And all the homosexuals I know are very tolerant and more left leaning...so do you know any freeper type gay people?

2. Andrew Sullivan
Dale Carpenter, a gay Republican law professor at Minnesota Law School.

Also, there is Patrick Guererro, president of the Log Cabin Republicans. I don't think he is conservative, but he does seem like a moderate Republican.

Is Lynne Cheney a gay conservative? I am not sure.

Believe it not.
I grew up in a racist household and being gay and semi-intelligent I had to reassess my preconceptions about blacks, but there are racist gays and homophobes of all colors and religions out there.

It's an odd quirk that some people do not take the opportunity of being the victim of prejudice as a reason to examine one's own prejudices about other groups.

3. Of course there are.
Ever heard of Roy Cohn? J. Edgar Hoover? Cardinal Spellman? Carl "Spitz" Channell?

Lots of reactionary homos out there. They're pathetic examples of what self-loathing can do to a person.

12. Also, Terry Dolan of NCPAC from the 80's.
Very conservative closeted gay man who headed the National Conservative Political Action Committee, which helped elect Ronald Reagan in 1980. Dolan died of AIDS in the late 80's.

7. Bob Bauman
Reactionary congressional SOB who was caught soliciting oral sex from a teenager in a public restroom. After his downfall, he became a libertarian and a crusader for gay rights, IIRC.

I found his autobiography in a used bookstore recently. It's amazing how a right-wing fundie freeper became a rainbow flag-waving liberal in only a few years time.

9. Log Cabin Republicans
I asked a friend who belongs why he wants to assimilate with a party that thinks his lifestyle is going to send him to hell..he gave me all the usual 'strong on security' and 'Repubs are good for small business owners lowering taxes" and even"there are gay ex-servicemen who believe only the Repubs will look after them"..who you sleep with doesn't mean anything.

10. Lindsey Graham

He was one of the "House Managers", out to persuade the American public that the greatest evil ever perpetrated in the Oval Office was a blowjob from a woman. He is now a Senator representing the oh-so-virtuous state of South Carolina which contains the altar at which every aspiring Republican must prostrate and kiss the, um, ring, at the tastefully acronymed Bob Jones University.

As for freeperish mentalities and latent/selfhating homosexuality, Free Republic itself has loads of posters who with endless fascination and emotional investment engage in stereotyped but highly graphic visualizations of gay sex, almost invariably man-man. They are completely convinced that other people are full of desires of the same kind and just pretend not to be interested in the possibilities and amazing eroticism they find in selfdegrading manlove. You really have to wonder about what life is really like in their back valleys of the Red States.

13. Freeperism, Conservatism, Republicanism... it's All A DISEASE
Seriously... I speak from experience.

I used to be a BIG fan of Rush Limbaugh (Hell! I even had vanity license plates that said "EIB-RUSH". Gag me!)

I was angry. I fell into the cycle of hate which breeds more hate and more resentment. I would FEED off of the hate mongering RW politicians and pundits and talk shows. I was a racist and misogynist.

I blamed black welfare queens for everything that was wrong with America. I blamed gays for our own problems. ("Just quit acting so 'gay' and quit being so fem... and your problems will disappear," I used to think.)

I blamed immigrants for burdening our economy. I blamed environmentalists for trying to break industry with too many regulations. I blamed democrats for too many taxes. I felt that war was good... as long as we're bombing communists. I worshiped the flag (almost literally).

It's too horrible to describe. I'm embarrassed at myself. It's NO WONDER that my boyfriend left me. (Actually I figured out he was cheating on me... but that's another story. The result is the same.)

The good news about all this is that PEOPLE CAN CHANGE!!!!!

15. Sounds like my own life story.
Same way. Big Rush fan, supported Dole over Clinton, Bush over Dukakis. Was big into the "macho, alpha-male hunter-gatherer" type thing, and regularly (secretly, amongst friends) made racist and anti-gay remarks. Then I went to college and everything changed. ;)

21. Was watching one of the Freeper rallies on C-Span a few months back
....and the guy who sang "God Bless America" sounded like he was trying to make it into a showtune. His speaking voice was also fairly feminine. Stereotypes, perhaps, but he looked very out of place compared to the other 19 or so people in attendance. He was also the only African American Freep at the event.

22. Yes
I lurk at FR all the time and have noticed a handful of gays over there who tend to be libertarians or liberal Republicans. They're usually among the most intelligent and polite posters on the whole forum, but have to put up with an almost unimaginable level of hatred and bigotry from the fundies and other anti-gay groups who are CONSTANTLY attacking them. I'm talking about freepers who want gays arrested and imprisoned simply because they dare to breathe, freepers who literally cried and got drunk when SCOTUS struck down the sodomy laws last spring.

The gay freepers don't usually last long because they tend to get banned whenever they dare to defend themselves. According to RimJob (the leader of FR), only "liberals" and "commies" care about gay rights. :eyes:

23. Pim Fortuyn in the Netherlands...
he was openly gay and the leader of an extreme right wing party.

from the BBC:

"Professor Pim, as he liked to be called, shocked the Dutch establishment in February with a call for the repeal of the first article of the constitution which forbids discrimination.

<snip>

He used his sexuality as fuel for his fire against Islam, which - like many other religions - does not accept homosexuality.

He slammed Islam as a "backward culture" - a view which he expounded at length in a book called Against The Islamisation Of Our Culture.

<snip>

Fortuyn's anti-Muslim views, calls for an end to all immigration and pledges to come down hard on crime struck a chord with voters despite the country's celebrated reputation for liberalism and religious tolerance."

25. Oh puhleeze, with the stereotypes... here's one that'll bet your bippy:
I know some black people who would hurt or kill me because I'm gay. They're also Muslim.

Oh yeah, they're otherwise very left-wing.

I used to know them very well, but for obvious reasons (like freakin' SURVIVAL) I've decided to back away a bit...

On this sad planet, we'll find all people of all types. Including racist homosexuals. Oh well. Applesauce happens, the best thing to do is to make lemonade out of it.

26. There are tons of them, just like African =-American, Hispanic-Latinos who
see the road to the future is "paved with the winning party."

That's why we have to focus on "Policy ISSUES....HUMANITARIAN ISSUES!

This AIN'T your OLD DEM party here.......NO! It's the times we live in, where "what you can get out of politics is your Future!

Leads to "divided loyalties" money in the "back pocket" and corruption of values no matter what "persuasion" one is! Or what "color skin."

28. There was the debate on don't ask, don't tell and they were throwing
gays out of EVERYWHERE at the time ... this was during
George HW Bush's reign. His pentagon spokesman, Pete
something or other who is a newscaster with a network,
probably ABC, he was gay. Everyone pointed to him and
said, "George, you are a big fat hypocrite whose spawn
will probably be demonic, satyric and stupid."

George said it was unfair to pick on this Pete guy.
No one had any business knowing what or who he was.
Apparently, if you don't carry an M-16, you're okay.

30. My lesbian tenant said she was going to vote for Bush
I was shocked!! She said he was for keeping government small. And for not giving away all our money. This was a total joke because she has been living on disability payments for years. Her disability is blindness, but she can see well enough to drive a car, even at night. She passes DMV tests.

She moved out last year. I was glad to see her go.

But seriously, a lesbian gal with a partner and a child LOVES W.
she likes R's cuz they're all about gettin' folks to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

She's neighbors with friends of mine and I met her once. She was funny, had a sweet child and a great dog.

The world is a big, wunnerful place.
