Gooooood Grief!!!
http://www.studentsforwar.org/dem4war.asp

Republicans aren't the only ones in favor of war. Patriotic Democrats like U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) and U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) have taking a strong pro-war position as well. Both voted to authorize military action against Iraq, and both have publicly voices their strong support for war. Students for War salutes Senator Lieberman and Senator Kerry for their strong support the war to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. We urge all Americans of both parties to do the same.

Here is a website named Students For War...an obvious young republican type of site. Prominently displayed on this site's homepage are Joseph Lieberman, John Kerry, Edwards and Gephardt with snippets of their support for Smirk's great adventure such as:

The war in Iraq is a task of high justice and necessity."

"There is not an inch of difference between me and the President over this war."

"It's time to come together and support our great American men and women in uniform and their Commander-In-Chief."

There is the obligatory French bashing button.

Sooo, as I understand it, does this mean that the Repukes are gaining succor from Dems supporting this war....as in: "Smirk may be a stupid asshole who lied to get us into this, but look, the Dems wanted to do it too?"

WTF? I mean WTF do you do when your entire (ok, a couple of exceptions) party has been stupidly hijacked????

2. Sigh . . .
We did this to ourselves. We should have challenged every fucking thing this administration told us BEFORE the war vote.

9. WHAT DO YOU MEAN "WE" (did this to ourselves)?
> We did this to ourselves. We should have challenged every fucking thing this administration told us BEFORE the war vote.

WE DID!
We wrote to our Congresscritters, we took to the streets!
They didn't listen to us.
They stole the 2002 elections, and with it, a "mandate" for war.

19. Sorry, I meant "our party".
Our Congressman/woman should have been FAR MORE SKEPTICAL about the intelligence. They should have postponed the war vote UNTIL the intelligence on existence of WMD were deemed highly reliable. That never happened. Hillary and many democrats voted for the war. That takes away a very potent issue against Bush if Kerry, or Gephart, or Edwards win the nomination.

10. Democrats for war. Lord help us.
Democrats for War

- I did notice they don't spend much time pondering facts....

  Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Connecticut:

"The war in Iraq is a task of high justice and  necessity."

"There is not an inch of difference between me and the   President over this war."

"It's time to come together and support our great   American men and women in uniform and their   Commander-In-Chief."

"It has been my view for 12 years that Saddam   Hussein must be removed from power if we are to   have a more peaceful world and more secure America."

Sen. John Kerry, D - Massachusetts:

“We're in this together. We want to   complete the mission while   safeguarding our troops, avoiding   innocent civilian casualties, disarming   Saddam Hussein and engaging the   community of nations to rebuild Iraq.”

Sen. John Edwards, D - North Carolina:

The U.S. should do "whatever it takes to disarm Saddam Hussein, including   the use of military force."

"Make no mistake, Saddam Hussein alone has chosen war over peace. He   has defied international law rather than disarm his weapons of mass   destruction. Our world will be safer when he is gone."

Congressman Dick Gephardt, D - Missouri:

"The highest responsibility our government has   is to keep our people safe. I wish that it didn't   come to this. Nobody wishes for war. But, we   must face the challenge of terrorism head on   and I support our Commander in Chief and the   American military at this critical time in that   struggle."

How many of the "Students For War" members are going to sign up for the military and go to fight for Bushco?

Very few, I imagine.

7. Not to defend those Democrat's who I guess
really did say those words in the quotes, but I think they are being co-opted by this group unfairly, to make a point. I think though that a nice big swastika on the page would complete the purpose of this website.

12. Why is it 'unfair' for them to quote Dems?
- These so-called Dems should have known their words would be used for neocon propaganda.

- Take a look at the 'commerical' at this site.

14. The context was their support for the invasion
You can spin it any way you want to, but the bottom line is they richly deserve the place they have made for themselves on this site:

20. Not to put too fine a point on it
but, what is the other side to this invasion, other than lots of cheap oil and profits for Carlyle.

Forgive me, I'm kinda wound up about this conquering stuff right now.
I have two boys ages 14 and 12 and I can SMELL a draft coming.

16. Creepy
Their "commercial" is the best argument Against War. How can any thinking person be Pro-War as a generalization. I don't need an answer, I know there may be particular instances when it's necessary. As an ideology it's sick, backward, ignorant.

The U.S. actually builds the most and uses the big bombs, no one else that I can remember.

15. I just "joined" SFW and here is what I wrote
in the "comments" field:

It is so wonderful to read your web site and of your heartfelt support for the war. I just don't imagine how you find time to do this while completing your basic training. Or perhaps you've already served your first rotation in Iraq and are back stateside for a few weeks?

Oh, that's right! You're a STUDENT, and you aren't in the military. Oh, and as a STUDENT, you should get a pretty high draft number, won't you? Well, that IS a good thing for you, now isn't it!

Be safe, and god bless.

21. Jacobin..just looked at the French bashing
in the link.

They take issue with a statement by a French diplomat which says (to paraphrase) President's Bush's new world is two or three centuries behind "old Europe."

The Students for war say "Yeah two or three centuries of war..fascism etc., etc."

What the hell do they think Bush's New American Century is all about?!?!?!?!

I join you in a heart-felt :wtf:

27. Well, I sent them this...
and I admit I was a bit chicken to use my real name, but the bastards probably stuck a webbug on me anyway.

Of course I disagree.

I am a Viet Nam veteran, and cannot conceive of an organization "for" war.

For a particular war?

For all wars?

For a constant state of war?

For any old war for the fun of it?

War is the failure of all other means to an end. War, according to Mark Twain, is the greatest obscenity.

Just how many of you with the big talk from the safety of a campus are willing to trade places with the grunts in Iraq? How many of you would trade places with me in the jungle? Do you really want to kill foreigners on their own land and watch your best friend bleed to death in your arms? Do you enjoy the sight of intestines and brains hanging out or legs blown to bits? Does the smell of blood turn you on?

Not ROTC schlubs with dreams of glory as battlefield commanders, but shining your shoes and preparing for inspection between firefights. Firefights where you know someone will die, but you just don't know who.

Do you really think there is glory or honor in having the enemy in your sights and a load of crap in your underwear?
