33. What do you do? I wish I could get online during dead-time
around 4am but we can't do that at work. Someone got fired for doing it. Of course, I could probably let it take over me and I might be neglecting my patients so it's a good thing!

If there's dead time I usually go into a vacant room or a room with someone who needs looking after and sit and chart and watch cable news shows I missed earlier in the evening--talk about political junkie. My co-workers think I'm crazy.

37. I'm an on call coordinator..
for a homehealth/hospice agency. Basically I get to be really annoying when patients call. I have to wake up their nurses. And our computer here is great, but a lot of our access is blocked because of SurfControl and stupid past employees.

I wish we had cable! You're so lucky! We just have a TV with local and a VCR.

19. I've been working nights 7 years now and even on my nights off
I stay up until around 3 or so because it's too hard to jump back and forth between days and nights. My body likes it better when I give it a happy medium! People don't understand me, though. They think I'm so lazy. Actually, I can get more done during the day because I'm not at work when everyone else is!

5. Job hunting, mostly

I do a job search on the local job bank, find a job description that seems decent, tweak the resume', print, read DU, read the links that interest me, comment some, tell myself I'm avoiding something, realize what I'm avoiding, finally go back to the job link site, repeat.

36. Hmm.. favorite kind too play...
probably the harder edge stuff.. but I was raised on the Beatles and all the good 60's rock that my dad listened to, so I usualy surprise people with my cd collection. Most people don't expect a self-avowed Black Sabbath freak to have cd's by people like The Beatles, John Denver or Chris DeBurg...
In any case.. Mrs. Opiate is giving me the "you need to get your ass to bed" look.. I better run.. 6:00 comes pretty damn quick. Y'all have a good night!

80. The campaign was good for him
It opened his eyes to a lot of things. I don't think he will finish digesting all that experience, all the stories of the people he met, for a year ot so. Hmmm ... let's just put it this way. He brought ME back into the Democratic party. For a long, long time I felt like no one came close to representing my views ... but Clark got it. Liberal fire backed by rock hard pragmatism and strategic thinking.

And it fits. Even back in the 80's, I heard the nasty little rumors he was "too liberal" to make 3 star. LOL!

82. Completely agree.
And that's really amazing he had the ability to pull you back in. I LOVE hearing stories like this. It's just amazing. He's a brilliant, brilliant man and I honestly think he could've done a lot of really great things for this country. But unfortunately him getting no media positivity didn't help.

"Too liberal" HA

I see him going through a period of synthesis followed by careful action.

63. Did you happen to see a guy on c-spans book review
Sunday? It was a repeat but it was this guy named Chalmers Johnson. He is selling his book "THe Sorrows of Empire" and he was saying on the book review show that we need to make plans and start looking at condos in Van Couver! That statement has stuck with me since he said that. My grandpa bought the book and when he's done he's gonna give it to me to read. I also bought a book by Noam Chomsky that I hear so much about here on DU. It's about America's quest for global dominance. Have you heard of any of these?

68. Ironically ...
My wife and I have been discussing moving our brood to Canada in the event of a problem with the election (ala 2000 or worse). Funny. I remember reading a few months ago about the Bufascists criticizing Canada for their overly protective stance towards civil liberties of their people. I guess Canada is now more free than we are.

89. It's almost the only other place we can go and be halfway safe.
I don't think I can get my family to move though. My spouse is getting close to retirement and my daughter is close to entering college. The mortgage is almost paid off. And we have lots of sickly family members closeby that need us. So I can't see it happening unless there's some miracle. I would go in a heartbeat.

93. it's about the case of two deaf lesbian mothers who used genetic
selection by seeking out a deaf sperm donor to father their deaf children. I'm exploring the history of eugenics, and its impact on the deaf community in my ten page seminar paper draft.

109. my line of attack is that the two deaf lesbian mothers who chose
for their children to be deaf actually is a challenge to the eugenics movement that considered deafness a "defect" whereas the two mothers consider it to be a cultural identity that they want to pass onto their children.

112. I know some deaf people like that...
they get very angry if you think they are impaired. They just look at the world differently, and do not regard it as an impairment at all.

One of them was in my grad school cluster, and she was an interesting person to get to know.

104. Mirros of my mind? ruh roh!
cause I can't decide if the reading I just did is telling me to:

A) start my own business

OR

B) go ahead and rob a bank!

LOL. Just kidding... but it could be read like that if one wanted it to. And that's my feel for it -- that since the universe/life is infinite in its potential, the tarot just helps you hone in on what you have swirling around in your brain and heart.
