I do. I wish I still had the big-block 'Vette, but the current car is 0-60 in 5.7, so that ain't too bad. Always room for "improvement", though... :)

Gets 18/25 city/highway, BTW. Not too bad.

2. guilty
I dream of getting a Corvette Z06 commemorative edition with the carbon fiber hood. Or a 2005 mustang. It appears that musclecars are back in fashion now. hmmm...

3. Not the fastest, but
I really, really, really want one of the new GTOs. Way more style than a Vette if you ask me. I wouldn't turn down an old one either.

4. They're pretty to look at and fun to ride in
But since I'd never buy one, I don't think I really qualify.

5. I do

But not for any specific car, just fast ones in general. It has everything to do with my father and his father, they both love fast cars. My father would put me in my car seat when I was little and do 360s in frozen parking lots. My grandfather has owned a Corvette, and we would peel out at lights. He also would take us grandkids out for rides on the Harley, but only around the neighborhood. Great fun.

Edit: Wow that sort of make us sound like a bunch of hicks, my Grandfather designed boat engines for a living. Those go fast too!

9. You want to see something ugly, my cousin, back in the 60's,
took a VW bug, removed the bug motor, and in the trunk (up front, remember) he put a '57 Chrysler hemi-head. He had to sit in the back seat to drive it, and there was so much torque he spent all his time keeping it going straight, but it sure moved. He used it in funny-car races....very funny car.

Myself, I'd rather have a miata.

Great car.
If I went for power and muscle, my dream car is a '68 GTO.

13. You, my friend, are not alone

We used to drop small block Chevy motors (283, 307, 327) in 'em back then.

You had to reinforce the hell out of the mounts, and the 327 would BARELY fit, but when all was said and done you had a ride that was akin to a block of ice on asphalt. Totally un-driveable, and often devoid of many important parts (i.e. the drive train) after a short time.

How the hell did he ever get a hemi-head Chrysler in there????

Maybe he used vaseleine? He was one terrific mechanic, though - still is, for that matter, although he calls it engineering nowadays.

14. speed's less important to me
than acceleration and handling. I have a Jaguar XKR which I love. It's very fast, but more importantly, accelerates and handles really really well.

18. I could be someone, be someone...
You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

You got a fast car
And we go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs

You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 05:50 PM by displacedtexan
Have never had a speeding ticket.
Just lucky, I guess.
Of course, I always obey the freeway 8 mile Donut rule: never speed within 8 miles of the nearest donut shop exit.

22. well
they aern't that fast but they are fun as hell to drive. I collect MG's, for now, at least until I can find a decent Porsche 356. I'm a huge fan of MGA's if you take into account British electrical systems, British Carburation, and clunky tramsmissions you have a pretty fun car to speed around in.
