Naysayers beware - new MORRISSEY record out tomorrow!
Am I guaranteed a good record? Nope. In fact, I buy it half expecting it will completely suck. But that's not going to stop me. I expect that, like everything else he has done sans Johnny Marr, there will be an even split between hits and misses. And yet I am undeterred.

Oh and don't forget:

May 10, 2004 ROCK LEGEND MORRISSEY TO PERFORM FIVE CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS ON CBS’ “THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG KILBORN,"
MONDAY, MAY 24 THROUGH FRIDAY, MAY 28

Morrissey, legendary solo artist and former lead singer of the pioneering alternative band “The Smiths,” will perform on THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG KILBORN for five consecutive nights, Monday, May 24 – Friday, May 28 (12:37 - 1:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Morrissey will be THE LATE LATE SHOW’s musical guest all five nights as he performs songs from his new album You Are The Quarry, which is being released on Sanctuary/Attack records. Additionally, Morrissey will sit down with Kilborn on Monday, May 24 for a rare interview.

“We're thrilled to have Morrissey back,” said Kilborn. “His music conveys the loneliness and despair of a man hosting a 12:30 A.M. talk show on CBS.”

Kilborn, a longtime fan of Morrissey, welcomed him to THE LATE LATE SHOW in September 2002 for the singer’s first appearance on the program. The appearance marked Morrissey’s first national talk show appearance in several years.

Morrissey’s newest release, You Are The Quarry, his first studio album in seven years, hits record stores Tuesday, May 18 in the United States.

So what's your favorite Morrissey lyric?

2. Well
"I need advice, I need advice, nobody ever loves something twice! Nobody, ever loves, something twice!"

Okay so there are better ones, first one that came to mind.

also

"I recognize that mystical air, it means I'd like to see your underwear" from the same song.

My wife likes:

"My only weakness is a mystic crime, my only weakness is, well never mind, never mind."

5. I used to listen to "How Soon Is Now?" and just bawl my eyes out
through my 20's when my every attempt at finding a decent relationship went straight down the shitter.

When I was in my late teens and becoming addicted to progressive music, my like-minded friends used to slam on The Smiths mercilessly because of the way Morrisey almost always sings in thirds, saying he had no real talent. It took me a while to begin to appreciate his music but now I love it. I had no idea he was still doing material, as the last time I saw him was in a video he had on MTV during the Beavis and Butthead heyday of 1994 or 1995.

I will have to tape the shows so I can check out the new material. Thanks for the heads up! :)

9. oh don't miss out...
Morrissey is headlining Lollapolooza this year (though I don't know if that still means something). And to your shithead elitist friends, tell 'em to fuck off, that man is incredibly talented just solely based on the timbre of his voice.

6. Girlfiend in a coma...
I know I know, it's serious. There were times when I could have murdered her.... but you know, I would hate anything to happen to her, would you please let me see her?

7. The Smiths
I liked the Smiths the first time when they were called "Dave Matthews Band."

10. I'm sorry
did you say Dave 'Corporate Whore' Matthews? No contest, Morrissey is so much more talented that such a comparison is improper. Also I don't like you.

12. I hate having to explain the joke, BUT
Dave Matthews -- sucks ass, performs terrible music, has nothing to do with Morrissey.

Juxtaposition = funny.

(Although admittedly, watching the reaction to the joke is half the hilarity... I almost got a firm beating when I told that joke (only it was about Anti-Flag and Simple Plan) at a show. :-) )

11. So many to choose from....
"But sometimes I'd feel more fulfilled
making Christmas cards with the mentally ill
I want to live and I want to love
I want to catch something that I might be ashamed of"

One of my favorites anyway...

13. I Love Morrisey!
But my memories of his music are from the late eighties. His band was so cool, and very talented, too.

Will he still have the same musicians with him? Same style?
