Lenny Brisko is leaving Law & Order... I'm gonna cry
well, not really but Jerry Orcbach is still the most convincing actor on that show. How can you not love Lenny?

1. He's getting his own spin-off
Which means that TV will get another weekly hour of doink-doinks. God help us.

5. the sound you hear as they change scenes...
is the "doink-doink." i agree that they're dilluting a franchise, although i will say that each of the three existing ones have a different flavor, which helps to keep them a little more unique. i can't really stand L&O: Crim Intent myself...vincent dinofrio really annoys me.

between law and order and csi, you can have one of the two 7 days a week this fall (csi: new york coming up)

14. You got that right.
His sanctimonious crap gets awfully old... I mean like the guy knows about everything from plumbing to rocket science...

Love SVU myself.

15. Ditto
Do you think he's trying to be a hip version of Sherlock Holmes. The woman who plays his sidekick seems like she totally "clueless" - no pun intended.

3. How many "Law and Order" spinoffs can there be?
NBC is flogging this franchise to death, IMO.

6. Jesse L Martin (Jerry's partner) said this about Jerry Orbach...
"The Guy is the nicest Human Being I've ever had the pleasure of meeting....I've never heard anybody say a bad thing about the guy....
He treats the lowest worker on the set with the same respect that he treats his own mother"

8. The lowest worker on the set...
Is that egomania or am I just projecting?

10. Not really (egomania)....He was talking before......
(his statement about Jerry)...of the actors he has worked with who
treat the prop people and sign holders like dogs....and how they treat
the other folks on the set like they're better than any of them.

I think he just used "lowest workers" to relay what he had just said.

I got the feeling that when he was talking about Jerry that he treated his crew the same way...Nice. :)

7. Lawned Order
The acting is good, the stories are better than average, the actors are excellent (even Thompson), but L&O is the TV equivalent of cicadas.

My mother watches three or four L&Os per day. I cringe to think what that is doing to her mind.

D'Onofrio is astoundingly good, too -- he plays his character as being almost off-kilter enough to be a criminal himself. It's a tough role to fill and the times I've watched his shows, I've been impressed.

But so many cops-and-judges crime shows have got to damage the brain.

11. D'Onofrio
I've only seen a few of that version of L&O...whatever it is. But he's a standout. He can be visually irritating, and I can't tell if that is who he is or who the character is.

When I watch him, I see a highly gifted individual with ADHD or some other syndrome related to attention and physical impulsivity. Is that him, or his character?

9. While his work as Briscoe was very, very good,
nothing can compare to his brilliant star-turn as Lumiere in "Beauty and the Beast." Quite simply, it was the single best portrayal of a talking, singing, dancing candlestick in the history of cinema. EVER. It still rankles me the way the Academy fucked him over that year.

17. Wasn't aware of Orbach's "Past"
I only knew him from L&O, so I was surprised to see a clip showing the making of "Beauty And The Beast" and there he was talking with Angela Lansbury (bear in mind this was several years after the movie came out). I thought, "What in the hell is Lenny doing on the set? Did somebody die?"

I didn't realize he had a successful career in musical theater (wasn't he an original in "The Fantastiks") before coming over to television. I know the franchise is getting watered down, but Orbach is my favorite part of L&O and I'll watch him in the new edition.

I love the show, in all it's incarnations. As long as it's done well, I welcome yet another spin-off.

19. My favorite Law and Order line (courtesy of Jerry/Lenny)
Upon walking into a murder scene wherein the victim is face down on the floor with the murder weapon, a golf club, lying alongside him:
Says Lenny, "So THAT'S what you use a one-iron for."
Polly just asked who they're going to replace him with. I said "does it matter?" It isn't going to be the same without Orbach.
John
It is now 31 days, 21 hours and 56 minutes to FUNDAY. Leave the golf clubs at home -- we can get you nose-down without 'em.

21. Great choice for a hard act to follow. They've been subtly setting the
stage for Lenny's departure. He's getting a little long in the tooth to be chasing down perps as a street detective, and it's shown in a few instances.

In the spinoff I imagine he won't have to chase suspects. Leaves him with enough wind to make those great wisecracks.
