The world has enough rude people. The alternative is right here. A LOT of kind and caring people at DU. :-)

15. Absolutely. DU is a haven for kind and sensitive people
Except on Nader threads, but you can't expect perfection.

So, how's the weather where you are?

18. Here in Chicago? Not too bad.
Probably mid to upper 70's today. It's going to be a nice one. :-)

And what about the weather where you are, Joby?

20. Pretty Mild, Indeed, Today
I had a videoconference with folks in the Philippines this morning. It was 5:30 CDT in the North Shore, so i left the house a little before 4am and i drove all the way up there with the top down on my car. (I live 55 miles south of the city, and HQ is 20 miles or so north.)

I think that might be the first time this year i've been able to go ragtop down at highway speeds before sun up.

I love open roofs just before the sun comes up. Nice and crisp. Good start to a day, eh?

23. In Austin? So-so for Austin
It's a bit overcast, high 70s here, too, but not too humid. Might get hotter later, they say.

So, terry, any plans for the weekend?

7. Responses are way down lately
Notice how many threads are all vertical with almost no stairstep? Everyone posts a comment and runs to the next thread, never to return. We used to have long, involved discussions, now it's just grafitti.

Well, can't talk, gotta run to the next thread.

12. I would have chosen 'sometimes'...
If I post something that I think is pretty good and I get no replies I sometimes feel bummed over it.

13. Gernerally no
There have been times where I knew that someone was purposely NOT responding because I wrote it for rather complex reasons, but hopefully that's all been worked out now. Other than that, I don't care really. I have no problem realizing that what I wrote might be not as interesting as I thought it was.

16. For some reason if people don't respond in makes me feel
like I am out of the loop. Either that or people are quietly chuckling at me behind their lap tops.

25. I feel like that, too, at times
I'll have a string of posts that no one replies to, and I'll start wondering if maybe all of DU thinks I'm a joke and has put me on ignore!

Such fragile egos we have!

19. I used to
When I first got online years ago I felt a bit bothered that I would say something and either kill a thread or be left in the dust. I have learned that it doesn't really matter if people respond to me or not.
To be honest though, in offline life I have many people who want to talk to me and hang out with me. I have been told numerous times that I am interesting and great to talk to. It amuses me online because I haven't found many friends or good discussion. But as I said, it doesn't bother me...I just have an offline personality and on here I am pretty bland. It's all good.

21. Not any more.
I have come to realize that not everyone can appreciate wit, erudition and the wisdom that comes with age.

Besides, I'm quite aware that I'm full of shit. That helps.

28. Just when I've said something really profound
and hits a nerve in our society. Of course I expect nobody to answer but sometimes I'd like to hear the excuse for what I say being true.
