I still can't wait to see The Chronicles of Riddick. If you haven't heard of it, Vinnie is reprising his role from the horrible movie Pitch Black. I've seen a lot about it (yeah, I'm a sci-fi nerd) and it looks to be pretty damn good.

On another note, from the interviews I've seen, Vin seems to be a very likeable guy and not as dumb as you'd think. I was shocked. Apparently, he's a huge D&D geek as well.

Nice guy. Bad actor. Australopithecine good looks.

22. I hope it's better than Pitch Black

A very disappointing movie - not a bad movie, but I was truly disappointing, because it started off so incrdibly promising - overexposed desert scenes, the monsters were brilliant, the idea of having a muslim and his son along (first muslim in a Sci-Fi movie so far as I know), a truly impressive and unique cast of characters with a very cool premise for a storyline. Vin's character was quite cool, as all of them were.

And while the movie never went bad, it SHOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE!!! So that's why it's disappointing. Like a kid you know could get straight A's, without even trying much, but doesn't want to do it.

Still, I bought the super extended bitchin' DVD version. :-)

I'm a little worried about the new movie though. Pitch Black worked because there was no "star" in the movie. Vin was a nobody like everyone else in the movie and that whole crazy plot just somehow managed to work.

But now Vin is a star and I can see this sequal ruining the character.

As i said, I have the super duper version on DVD and enjoy watching it.

It's just that the movie could have been STUPENDOUS. It had everything going for it, and the makers simply didn't take advanatage of all that they had at hand.

That's why it's disappointing - one keeps catching snippets of greatness and one goes, "Yeah! Go with it!!" and then they don't.

The little I saw of him, in Pitch Black, and Fast and Furious, was intriguing, but he was sort of in an ensemble role in these flicks...supporting actor, really, in the Fast and the Furious....and Pitch Black was not a typical movie as it had this "MTV" vibe to the editing.

The name of it was 'XXX'. Frankly, I enjoyed it. It was one of the best Bond parodies I've seen. Very funny. Not forgettable at all.

maybe you confuse bad scripts with bad acting. take a look at SAVING PRIVATE RYAN again and tell me he's a bad actor. then again, tell me what "bad" acting is. a less abstract thought would be, "vin diesel is not pleasing to me."

He was okay in that. No better or worse than Stallone or Schwartzenegger, IMO. He soesn't have the Rock's charisma, though.

I actually liked him quite a bit in Pitch Black, The Boiler Room, and The Fast and the Furious. I think he has a nice niche as a sensitive tough guy. His choice of scripts isn't all that good, XXX was awful, but in the other stuff he was really quite believeable, at least to me.
