Roto-tilling new garden area late this afternoon, I tilled up a snake ..
A three-foot long copperhead. It struck at my ankles, but I had on heavy, high-top boots and thick work jeans. Scared the living shit out of me. I had a hoe nearby, anticipating snakes where I was working, but couldn't get to the hoe fast enough. The copperhead escaped. Like my 84 year-old dad said, "Now you have something to worry about."

Amen, Dad!

8. No. I wish.
It is close by where I saw it. Waiting to pop me on the ankle. Mark my word.

3. we've killed 3 in a week and a half
We've not seen any copperheads here in nearly 20 years and this year 3. We got a load of sandy soil delivered and I wonder if they came in the dirt. Somebody at work said that we might've got them all or only the stupid ones. I forget, do you still live in Texas- We live near Bryan.

10. The snakes won't see fake birds unless the fake birds move.

6. Yeah
Snakes have that "I'd like to watch you die" look about them. Kinda likes conservatives.

11. I'll pass
Naphthalene, if I remember correctly, causes a blood disorder in Afro-Americans. Yet another reason to monitor what enters your house.
