I don't owe my allegiance to any particular political party, thank you very much. Without a doubt, Republicans are remaking this country into something I could never support, but Democrats have their own sins to answer for as well--and don't get me started on Nader! :)

7. I've never voted for anyone but a Dem in general elections ...

but I am registered Independent, and here in NH you can switch affiliations to vote in primaries, so I voted for McCain in 2000 primaries. I doubt I would have voted for him in the general election, but I sure as hell didn't want * under any circumstances.

I think there are some Dems I could not in good conscience vote for, as many take WAY too much money from special interests, and some are just as crooked as the guys on the other side of the aisle. I'm probably more of a Noam Chomsky independent--definately left, but independent.

I guess for me there's more to it than "Well, I'm not a republican, so I guess I'm a democrat." I've always voted Democratic, since fortunately I've never been faced with the prospect of having one who I could not vote for. If I had my 'druthers, we'd have a dozen choices for each office, rather than the 2 or 3 we usually have--and I'd vote Democratic Socialist if that was a choice.

Did any of that make sense? :shrug:

not sure what the question is really asking ...

this year, I'm totally ABB ...

next year, with Kerry in the White House, i'm outta here ... i've had it with the democrats ... their politics are not my politics ...

i see a country that refuses to understand that capitalism cannot co-exist with democracy ... the rich are not just getting richer but they're getting more powerful as well ...

it is time to "cap income and wealth" ... we cannot continue to allow government policy to be determined by the wealthiest corporate stockholders ... it is time that we put people before profits ...

and i cannot see that democrats agree with this theme ... democrats seem to believe in modified capitalism ... i define this as a somewhat laissez-faire system with a wee bit of government regulation thrown in ...

so, today i'm a democrat ... long-term, I'm probably a Green or a Socialist ...

That's my guess, anyway. I mean, drop the word into conversation and it's like the proverbial turd in a punchbowl. I like to point out all of the socialism we have in this country--roads, schools, hospitals, etc. When you do that, most people actually accept--not surprisingly--that socialism is really not such a bad idea, since they can see from their own experience that unfettered free market capitalism is not really such a great thing.

America is OUR country. WE THE PEOPLE. I choose to fight in the name of the Constitution because the Constitution is as much Socialist as it is Capitalist, if not more so. Our colors don't run either.

As it stands, Americans left England due to excessive prices on the part of those in charge combined with oppression aimed at them, and formed a country ran by people as hideous and despicable as the King George we ran away from. It's amazing, how we can potentially become what we hate... :scared: (of course, we also left England for religious persecution and, even at the time of founding, persecuted people for not having the same religion as our forefathers. :crazy: )

Previously used toilet paper, the writing on it being worthless and the concept behind the writing triply so. "We the people" and such. All lies. America seemed to have improved along the lines of true freedom and true input by all until the big corporations sunk their talons into the system and usurped power. They not only threaten America, but the entire world. Could this be why the World Trade Center was such a favorite target amongst the despicable destroyers? (Hate and anger is one thing, but engaging in senseless violence is quite another and does nothing BUT engender more violence. It's easy to start and easier to continue. Maybe that's why religions tell us to be the better person and use better ways to live, act, and react? Maybe George* should really read his someday, I've got a few quotes from the Bible he should truly brush up on...)

I don't know when the capitalist system became bad, but we're in the midst of a system that has gone so out of control that it's not even funny. Especially when the repukes combine the greed and abuse of the few to their mantra of "Choose life!" Protect the fetus but pee on the adult is what they're SHOWING. What they say to get the braindead to follow them is comparatively compassionate and alluring.

After 2004, I'm about to sock it to the Dems as well. The last 3 years have been embarrassing, and Kerry's even own ads leave a lot to be desired in terms of efficacy. While * can't raise his numbers, Kerry's not raising his by any newsworthy number. Best case scenario is that people see Kerry as the lesser of two evils. In the past, I never thought the phrase was accurate. It seems far more real every day. And I'm gettin' tired of voting for the lesser evil because it's still evil.

I'm a paleo conservative on foreign affairs; meaning that I believe we should back out of the UN and stop trying to run the world. I'm a libertarian on social issues in that I don't have a problem with gay marriage and sincerely believe that the war on drugs is a horrible idea. I also believe in organized labor and a degree of protectionism in trade. If people earned enough to live on, there wouldn't be so many problems.
