How do YOU define irony?
The United States Government defines irony by naming two FAARP's (Forward Area Arming and Refueling Point) Camp Shell and Camp Exxon...

Language in a time of war can be illuminating or obfuscating, depending on your perspective. Yesterday, in southern Iraq, U.S. troops provided an ironic example. They named two temporary refueling facilities Camp Shell and Camp Exxon...

2. Irony or "the writing is on the wall"?
This is as much irony as I am promiscuous with lots of women strippers as they clearly prefer overweight guys than slim, muscular ones. :eyes: (in other words, it ain't irony...)

5. Actually, there is a much simpler reason for the names...
It's not about oil; it's about gas stations. My KC-135 tanker unit during Gulf Fiasco One chose the call sign "Texaco" for our missions, and we even painted Texaco signs on the bottom of our aircraft so the fighter jocks would feel like they were pulling in to an aerial service station.

It's known as "tongue in cheek" humor, and not some kind of homage to the real reason the war was/is being fought...
