Why do newscasters bother?
They tell us that if we drive for 30 minutes or longer per trip to work, we're more likely to be obese.

These tell us that when we're tired and stressed, we're more likely to have accidents while driving. That's when they make tie in work as being a source for stress and fatigue...

They tell us lots of things about work, not having time, this and that...

What do they expect to be accomplished? Society isn't going to change itself to accomodate the masses who have these problems. They'll just make more drugs and charge more for them.

1. Society is changing
Not so many years ago, riding your bicycle to work made you a target for ridicule.

Now the bike racks at work are jammed.

My commute is a 35 minute drive (depending on traffic) and I arrive stressed and upset.

The same commute is a 40 minute bike drive (depending on the wind) and I arrive relaxed and energized.

2. Lets face it guys....
most newscasters have no idea who you are or what you weigh. We do stories like that because they are interesting, not necessarily interesting to us but maybe to you. Also these light feature type stories (I mean, heck being overweight does not compare to the Iraq war in importance)these stories take up time and most station have local newscasts that often are more than an hour in length. I hated doing such stories because when I got home, my wife would start in on me about "when are you going to go on that diet?????" I was lucky tho. My drive to work took seven minutes so I was not stressed by the time I got to the station or back home.:hi:

3. I love it when they criticize the weather people
For example, "So Jim, what do you mean it's going to rain all Memorial Day weekeend!? Thanks a lot!" As if this guy controls the weather or someting.:eyes:
