So, my buddy is back with us
It's not pretty, eye swelled shut and oozing and bleeding. About six huge lacerations on his head. His face is all scraped and so is his back.
I went down to the hospital and brought him home after getting him a sandwich and his prescriptions, he didn't eat it and slept the whole drive back. When he got back he threw up, it was either the morphine or a concussion I imagine. But the doctors said he didn't have any head injuries.
He's downstairs now watching Carlito's Way.
He told me "It's not so much the pain, it's that I feel like such an idiot."
I don't care, he's okay.
Man that was a long, bad day. If I got that worried about my friend I can only imagine how a parent feels. So many terrible things were running through my head on the way to the hospital. I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep it together when I saw him, right after I had to go to the washroom to settle down.
That prick gave us all quite a scare.
The poor bastard, his face is such a mess.

4. He was on his dirtbike
He had just started it up and was going to take it to the end of the road and back. He didn't put his helmet on, hit a pile of sand and went over the handlebars.
His eyebrow was hangin off his head. He was in terrible shape, I'm glad I was in town when it all happened.

3. I hope he's feeling better soon
When I got a concussion as a kid, they made my parents wake me up all night and ask me stupid questions like my best friends' phone numbers and crap. It really irritated me. Do they still make you do that, or is that a relic of the '70s?

8. I'm glad your "friend" is going to be ok
And this ol' Texan wants you fellas to know that who you love don't make me no nevermind. We just all gotta take care a' each other, and it's good that you have each other.

Feels a might weird talkin' like this, but what the hey, I'm a registered Democrat now, so's I'll get used to it soon enough I reckon.

10. Ah, come on, exJW....
Fess up! You're not really from Texas, are you? My Texas relatives (including my lovely mother, a Dallas native who died last year at age 96) are/were softspoken, cultured and never ever butcher our beautiful English language. Their accents are most charming, though, I must admit. I love listening to them speak. I'm a west-coaster now, so of course no accent at all, just pure unadulterated "Americanese", so I'm pretty sure you're "funnin'" us with your down-home drawl. Unless maybe you're from Oklahoma? Come to think of it, you do sound a lot like my old boy cousins who hail from there! (My birth state, BTW!)

Anyway, welcome to DU!

13. eh... yaah ok. ya caught me
T/y for the welcome.

Actually, I am from Dallas. It's just that in the last year or so (since I've turned political for the first time in my life), I've felt more compelled than ever to mock the more clueless of my TX brethren. Hence the acting-clueless gag about HeyHey's gay love for his buddy. Not that there's anything wrong with or to gag about if they are gay mind you.

I am a brand spankin' new democrat though. And it is a little scary how effortlessly I take to the butcherin' of the English language.

14. Good for you!
So nice to hear you're a Texas Democrat. My cousins are so far to the right it kinda scares me. Keep thinking if they knew how liberal I am, they'd drum me outa the corps! Great folks, though, and I just try hard to avoid political discussions with them. A few years ago my Mom and I were in Dallas for a family reunion and the cousins took us to a restaurant called Antares in Reunion Tower. A most memorable experience and great food, too, as I recall. Loved that revolving tower with amazing views of the city night lights.

I must say, that Texas drawl is pretty infectious. If my parents hadn't headed west shortly after I was born, I'd be talkin' that way, too. Not a bad thing, of course!

Welcome not only to DU but to the Democratic party. We shall overcome!
