Anyone seen the new Italian Job movie?
Thinking about going to see it tonight, but the original 1969 film is one of my all-time favourites.....

I hear that the new one is pretty good, and isn't just a shitty remake that will have me angry about them bastardising the original, but has anyone on here got any opinions on it for me?

Basically, I'm refusing to go to the cinema these days unless I'm pretty sure the film is OK.....I drove my girlfriend insane when we left The Hulk and I spent the next week slagging it off for the devil's toss that it was.....

1. Apparently, it was so bad that Ed Norton refused to do publicity for it
Haven't seen it, but from everything I've heard/read it was a completely needless remake that sucked balls.

And now they're remaking Alfie with the infinitely bland Jude Law.

6. That bites. Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors.
Generally speakin I've liked almost every one of the movies that he's been in too.

"American History X" is a modern classic IMHO.

Bummer.

2. Definitely worth going to see..

The only resemblance to the original is that some of it is filmed in Italy, someone nicks a pile of gold, and there's some cool stunt-driving in some souped-up Mini's. Other than that there's bugger all similarity.

Having said that, it was a very enjoyable film. Nicely paced, some very cool stunts, and the scenery (Charlize Theron) is very tasty..

But don't take my word for it, go and see it yourself..

Unfortunately there was no one to repeat the classic line "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!!"...

3. I did not see the original...
... but the new version was a decent movie considering the genre.

Yeah, Charlize doesn't hurt the movie one bit, but I could live without Wahlberg :)

5. Thanks for the comments. Saw it last night.
Thought it was pretty good. Not a patch on the original, but it wasn't really a remake so that's OK.

Reasonably intelligent action movie with decent plot and dialogue.

Thought it dragged from time to time and that they didn't spend enough time on the prep for either heist, but worth a watch.
