5. I was kicked off before I understood DU

I accused this site of being a republican draw for liberals...and that Will Pitt....Will Pitt was really a republican drawing us liberals out...I was WRONG of course....but I was very quick to give my opinion before really reading...and doing a knee jerk action....and being kicked out was the best thing that happened, forced me to read before posting...and now I read probably 200 and post once...read 300 and post once...I want to contribute, but have realized there are many more noble than I.

I haven't had too many posts removed when considering how many posts I've made but when it happens..I consider it a disagreement between myself and mods or admin in which they prevailed.

More to the point...before new DU..I actually hit the alert on myself a couple times..as I KNEW I had crossed the line.

I did have a name I posted under for a short period then I couldn't sign in. She might have been tombstoned, I assumed she was but I never really checked. Now I realize that as many times as I am unable to sign in these days, I should have just been persistant.

17. I will confess

It happened to me when I first started posting in the fall of 2001. I had been lurking since the summer. Got totally addicted during the Sept. 11 events, and ventured my first few posts in October.

I ventured forth with a few snarky comments about Clinton and Free Speech Zones because they were set up under him in reaction to abortion protests. Something else, but I can't recall right now.

And then it happened. I WAS NUKED! Needless to say, I was totally heartbroken and dejected and wrote this long e-mail to admins about how much it hurt to be rejected by the community that I had grown to love and respect.

They wrote me a really nice reply and reinstated my account and the rest is history as they say. Needless to say, I was very hesitant about posting things after that, but I've grown much more comfortable here in the past year.

I was banned twice when I first found this board.

I went by the names Progressive Pete and Baron Von Liberal.

LOL.

I lasted about a month the first time. And two weeks the second time.

But I didn't give up on DU. I loved this place so much.

Moral of the story - persistence pays off!
