Glen Campbell entertains fellow inmates
http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/07/10/campbell.jail.ap/index.html

Campbell, nearing the end of his 10-day sentence for extreme drunken driving, gave a free 30-minute concert Friday night for about 1,000 inmates at Maricopa County's outdoor jail.

"Tent City, you're gentle on my mind," Campbell sang during his opening song, the million-selling "Gentle on My Mind."

The Phoenix-based singer-guitarist performed several of his Top-10 hits on a makeshift stage atop a flatbed truck with some hay bales as a countrified backdrop.

The country star also performed "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" in his eight-song set and led the rough-and-tumble audience in the chorus of "Rhinestone Cowboy."

2. Wonder if it was recorded
Johnny Cash did well with his San Quentin and Folsom Prison albums. This might be the kick in the ass Glen's career needs.

Though my favorite prison live album of all time has to be.....

Track this one down if you haven't heard it.

"What? you can't dance?? Rules? I don't see any fucking rules. Come on you wankers you'd be just as bored on the fucking outside anyways!!"

4. Had him on my airplane several years ago.
I think he was in the middle of his cocaine years.
Looked like death warmed over. Must've weighed about 95 pounds.

5. So sad about Glen. He is a great performing artist...
One of the sweetest male voices I've ever heard.

6. Is that a recent photo of Campbell?
If so, it looks a whole lot better than his mugshot! But so does a puddle of moose diarrhea....

10 days, and allowed out and about during the daylight hours! WHAT A JOKE. Might as well be a hotel stay.

I brook no tolerance of drunk drivers. This is one area where I would be the proverbial hanging judge.

Wish I could share my personal story of what an asshole he is, but I respect a person's privacy.

Worthless drunken hack. His music sucks too.

8. Especailly given the treatment of others at Tent City which IMHO
is cruel and unusual...and most of it isn't HIS music anyway...but his guitar playing is great...love the Taylors in the pic too.

9. to be fair
I have no problem with the inmates getting a free concert (as a liberal and a music lover, via 'Cash at Folsom', etc.), even a Glen Campbell concert.

It's just his sentencing I have a problem with.

Other than that, my musical opinions should always be taken with a molecule of salt. :-)

10. Oh I agree...no problem with the concert
what I am saying is that it is a travesty that Tent City even exists.

Tent City is southern Arizona Republican fascism at its ugliest. They would probably want to create hundreds of them as detention camps for illegal immigrants and Democrats.

I wish I were being flippant.

On edit: I would wish for Campbell's sentence (of any length) in an indoor jail, with A/C, and the minimal amenities.
