6. Hehehe. . .
thanks.

He's been a real pain in the buttocks the past few days. He's VERY vocal when he wants to play, and he's been extremely hyper the past few days. He won't shut up.

7. Has Quinn been neutered?
He's about that age, isn't he?
My girls aren't vocal, they just squeak when they see food or prey.
Just call me the food lady.

11. My evil kittie
(the one pictured above) has gotten more and more vocal since our other kitty died last December. Is that weird or normal? She meows ALL THE FRIGGING TIME. It's like she is this really really demanding furry person. She wants attention constantly. She gets it, but it is getting tiring and I love her like crazy.

37. Seriously, consider getting a second cat
preferably a male kitten she can "mother". When my beloved Peewee died last year, my other elderly cat Miro (the black and white shorthair pictured below and on your other thread), meowed almost incessantly and followed me everywhere. I kept giving him loads of affection, but nothing seemed to help. My vet said it was depression and grief, and another cat would do him good. Now he, Oberon and Puck are the best of friends. He's especially close to Obie, who grooms and cuddles with him every day. I went to the SPCAs website for tips on successful introductions of new kittens, and their advice worked like a charm.

Check out this site for a new friend: www.petfinder.com

42. Problem with that suggestion:
all three of us are allergic to cats. Our daughter is so allergic she is on three meds a day (she also has some other airborne allergies, not just cats). We didn't know this until a few years AFTER we became cat owners!

So after Clarissa Marie goes to kitty heaven, no more cats for us.
:(

It's bad enough that our daughter might have to start weekly shots! And we ADORE the kitties! We would get another one in a HEARTBEAT! (They were both rescue cats.)

But alas, we cannot. Sniff. I will just give Clarissa Marie tons of attention. Also, she has become closer than ever to our dog, Hannah Rose. They used to hate each other, now they act like buds.

43. NO problem; get a Siberian
sorry but they are longhaired cats. They are hypo-allergenic (they don't possess the protein in their saliva that causes an allergic reaction). 90% of people who are highly allergic to cats can own a Siberian (go ahead-Google it).

48. Try this:
www.petfinder.com

Also, many breeders have adult cats up for adoption. The one closest to me is Kravchenko Siberians. I don't know their web address, but their phone # is (904) 761-8737 and the breeder's name is Lynda Nelson. She might be able to point you in the right direction.

My dad is looking into Siberians now because his girlfriend is very allergic. They aren't always easy to find, now that everyone knows that anyone can own one!

One that's still growing, in fact. Do you have pictures of Silas?

Here's Puck at four months, and Oberon at nine months:

Another adult MC sleeping awith a domestic shorthair (not mine):

Oberon was once small-just a few months ago!:

Puck is still pretty little. Here she is TRYING to play, while sleep is getting the better of her (she's a Turkish Angora, BTW):

30. Lol! Actually, it's the guest room bed
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 10:40 PM by Jen6
so yeah, it's "theirs" most of the time. The elderly black and white cat, Miro, stays there most evenings, but the kittens usually sleep with me. :-)

Oh, and it's Queen sized, too! Obie and Miro are really large cats (Miro is pretty obese-he's down to 16 pounds now, from 26)! Puck is a fairly average sized cat.

47. This would explain why
I kept hearing meowing outside the door when I came to visit you Jen - How dare I take-over the cat bed! Poor Miro! ;-) No wonder they like it- It is definitely the most comfy cat bed I've ever slept in ;-) :-) .

Well, if you ever make it out this way, you'll probably be sharing a bed with Boris. He's recently discovered the guest bed too. I went in there the other day after coming home from work and the blankets were all messed up. The pups aren't allowed access to the master bedroom when I'm at work, so I think one of them decided, wtf, there's a bed in the room we never use so I'll just go there instead. I'm pretty sure it was Bor-boy. Tasha prefers the floor except at night when she takes over my bed.

:hi:

Did you put the softclaws (or is it softpaws?) on yourself? I've been thinking about trying those.

32. Yes!
http://www.softpaws.com

I used to do it with Mrs. Amok...I'd hold each cat, and she'd clip and clue.

Since we separated, I've learened to do that myself. It's actually quite easy, and the cats don't mind. I lay each one on her back, softly jammed between my leg and the arm of the sofa...then I'm able to manipulate the paws to trim and glue as I need to.

The coloured ones aren't just fashionable...you can tell by looking when they've fallen off.

Oberon's talons...er, claws (they end up feeling like dog claws, so they don't tear anything), but Puck can really do a job a me when she's playing. I'll give 'em a try!

22. But it's a combination of both . . .
The girl is small and the cat is huge.

It's a full grown Maine Coon kitty, and the girl (if I remember the story I read properly) is right around 5' tall, so it make the cat look even bigger.

People ask me how big Oberon will get (he has four more years of growing to do)and I always show them that Maine Coon. He's a tad on the large size for an MC, but not much! (She could be petite, too).

among other factors. Most MC get pretty large:

Males typically only reach 22 pounds, but have been known to grow as large as 46 pounds (lean weight). It takes about five years for them to fully mature, but they are about half grown at ten months.

An interestic factoid: it's long been argued that Maine Coons don't have any wild blood in them, but recent DNA testing suggests that both bobcat and lynx contributed to the breed early on.
