Windows XP help!!!!!!
Crap.. well I finally managed to get logged into DU... what a mess..

Maybe somebody can help me, or has seen this problem before.

This morning I go to log in to my computer (windows XP) like normal..

And this is the error message that I get:

Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Error performing inpage operation.

It then proceeds to log me in using a temporary profile, which naturally makes everything extremely difficult...ugh...

My original profile is still there in it's folder, but for some reason Windows can't load it when I log on..

My profile that I use, by the way.. "Heyo" is the administrator profile and the only one I use.. I am the only one that uses this computer...

I did a google search, and other people had seen the problem but I couldn't find a real clear explanation on how to fix it...

Any ideas?

Heyo

1. NTFS or FAT or FAT32?
I think your profile is corrupt, regardless of file system used... I've never found any of them to be entirely reliable...

There are ways to save your bookmarks and such... but you might have to create a new profile (and NEVER use the built-in guest or administrator profiles!)

2. Create a new profile
And copy data from the corrupted one into it. See KB article 81151

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile

Doesn't sound too painful...

Here's the MS article on this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318011

You also may want to try booting to your Windows XP CD and running a repair of the install.

on edit: advice on #2 post is better!
