2. Hey, it's a legitimate question.
And we must know the DU mood on this issue.

25. Well, it took 20 actually
but here it is. :eyes:

It's not that I don't have an appreciation for the female body (which I own and happen to appreciate as well), it's just why do I have to see this shit: http://www.catch.com/comments/33988_0_17_0_C/

in regards to female atheletes when there is nothing comparable for men? And I'll tell you, I *don't* especially want to see ANY less on the male atheletes. I just want to know why it's so okay and wonderful to make women's bodies the sole focus of a discussion about sports (or entertainment or business or even the news for cripes-sake) when it's not a standard for men? I mean, I expect it in the mainstream fucked-up culture, but it's a little more needling coming from a liberal site I adore.

Not as needling as BushCo's abuses at all, but still a pain anyway. Do you get what I mean?

I suppose the "accepted" response would be for me just to walk away from this thread and pretend like I didn't see it. But you wanted responses from DU so there you go. That's mine, if you were really interested.

22. Actually
They did. In Greece, the Greeks had an All Female version of the Olympics in honor of Hera. They competed either wearing barley anything or were naked, as the Spartan women went about it.

Reuters is quick to oblige.

Edit: I don't know why that wouldn't post. It's a Yahoo article about Olympic Women's beach volleyball with a picture from Reuters that zooms in squarely on one of the player's ass.

7. Why is beach volleyball considered a separate sport from
regular volleyball?

It's like having baseball and sandlot baseball be separate sports.

17. All Olympians should be nude.
Anything else is a disgrace to the games.

That said, if such a rule were implemented, I would no longer watch the shot put or weightlifing events.
