I am so proud of this kid, my second born. My first born is a chemistry major at Georgia Tech, working for his black belt in Shaolin Do in his spare time. I'm proud of him, too, being an alumnus ... but Adam has cut a far different path for himself.
All three of us wear pony tails down to our butts ... not really sure why. Other than that we are quite different, as it should be.
We bought Adam (who dreamed of being a fighter pilot) a bass about two years ago and something happened. The kid found his voice, metaphorically speaking, and has formed a band of like minded young men. So the wife (his stepmom) and I scrimped a bit and bought him a bass head and cabinet ... used gear but 350 watts worth.
But dude wanted to go to New York, and was willing to sacrifice the gear if that would fund a trip for him and me up there. 16 years old and he knows where he stands and why.
Adam stands considerably to the left of me. His reasons are valid and informed ... we just disagree. But one thing we are in total agreement: George W. Bush is a wanker. And thus he was willing to trade 350 watts for the opportunity to march against him.
I can't get away from work, and we don't have anyone up there to stay with ... so he got the gear. He's pretty happy with it. Spent the weekend doing extra chores, watching C-Span, and spending quality time with his bass. The floor shook under his onslaught of heavy riffs, and the house was happy.
