NFL set to remove ban on Tillman jersey
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/sportsbusiness/news/story?id=1871684

Almost four months after halting the shipment of Arizona Cardinals jerseys with the name "Tillman" on the back, the NFL is preparing to lift the restrictions placed on its manufacturer, and proceeds of the jerseys shipped will now go to the Pat Tillman Foundation, the organization whose mission it is to carry on the legacy of its namesake.

Tillman, who left the Cardinals to join the Army in May 2002, was killed while fighting in Afghanistan in April, making him the first NFL player to die during combat since the Vietnam War.

The Tillman jersey arrangement is one of many things the league and its teams have decided to do in order to memorialize the former Cardinals star.

Gag me with a knife. Pat Tillman Freedom Plaza?

Fuck that. I'd rather call it Pat Tillman is Dead Plaza.

3. the Pat Tillman Freedom Plaza or Tillman Plaza should be enough ....
Tillman fought bravely in Afganstian against some really bad guys, but the "freedom" part implys that the Afganstian and Iraqi invasion were for freedom (freedom for corporate profits that is)

was he not killed by a friendly fire situation?

In case, anyone yammers, let me say i believe he was a true hero.

slo a preemprive strike against the NFL may be in order, we might consider emailing them in mass, and stating that we all have or beliefs, just no politics in football please..

5. Here we go again...
It seems as if Pat Tillman has become a mythical figure of sorts for the right. Too bad he was an athiestic, open-minded intellectual who did what he thought was right for his country at the time. Dropping that "Freedom" into the name of the plaza so cheaply makes him part and parcel of the Repub right, which I'm sure is something he never wanted in the first place.
