If Bush wins I propose a law that says no abortions allowed overseas

That's right. If Bush steals the election again, and Roe is overturned, no Republican women who are well off enough to sneak off to Switzerland to have an abortion, only to come back and spit on poor women who had to do it the back alley way, will be allowed to have abortions outside of the US.

I say make a law that would have these women jailed in San Quentin for murder should they try to sneak outside of the US to have an abortion if abortion is made illegal here.

Let's be honest any woman who can afford to go overseas to have an abortion is not likely to be a poor lower class woman (or even middle class) who just got raped. It's typically going to be the rich neo-con bitch from North Salem who forgot to tell her fitness instructor to use a condom.

2. Switzerland?

No need to go so far....Martinique & Guadaloupe are nearby Caribbean islands and Departements of France. Why not just spend a refreshing weekend there? Abortion is an ECONOMIC issue. Wealthy women will always be able to get safe and legal abortions; poor women won't. As a gay man, I have very little involvement or interest in this issue, but if one of my nieces needed some help taking care of a problem, I hope she would feel comfortable asking me. I'd certainly be glad to help!

4. That's the whole point

When abortion was illegal rich women went off to some other nation to have them, and came back and joined with their neo-con fundie husbands in condemning poor women who could only afford back alley jobs.

It's sort of like the idea of instituting a draft for the sons and daughters of the rich whenever the leadership of the nation wants to go to war for reasons which are foggy or wrong.

5. I don't think a negative approach

would win over any upper class women to our side. It would only alienate them. That isn't a good strategy as it could never be enforced.

You have to convince upper class women and their men (their husbands and fathers) that a woman is a human being with rights to control her biological functions, and if that is a given, that a person of lesser economic means is also a human being. Actually, that's the biggest part right there.

do the abortions for the wealthy inside the US - in their cities.

It was always look the other way for the wealthy - not much need to travel.

Small town wealthy did have to travel though to keep the secret.
