1. you have to win before you become an empire
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 04:54 PM by JohnKleeb
The yanks get that title from their long long history of winning.

3. well I may root for them against the yankees
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 05:00 PM by JohnKleeb
but
2004 Boston Red Sox $ 22,500,000 Outfielder: Manny Ramirez
2004 Boston Red Sox $ 17,500,000
Pitcher: Pedro Martinez
I really do hate the yankees a lot but if red sox use the money reason, they're wrong because the Sox have always been up there with one of the higher payrolls in the game.

4. What's So Wrong With Owners Paying Labor
I just don't understand people criticizing the Yankees for paying their labor (players) well. Do you want the owners to horde all of the money like they do in the NFL and NBA. At least Steinbrenner's money is going to the players and not his fat pockets.

6. You know hell froze over when I defended the yankees friday night
because for a while up until I was 9, the yankees had a longer series drought than my orioles did, sigh if only things could have stayed that way and Jeff Meier hadn't gone to Game 1 of the 1996 ACLS, well more importantly if we had a sensible owner who doesn't force popular managers to resign.

9. Yeah, Lofton is a real class act
so is A-Rod for that matter. The Red Sox have HEART and SOUL, and most Yankee fans admit that much!

You have to admit, a Yankees-Sox match-up is great baseball!

14. Dude, I was at that game
third base side, behind the Yankee dugout. Mr. Zimmer has a history of outbursts. He managed the Sox back in the late '70s and had a temper back then. Some things never changed.

For the record, he charged Pedro. Was Pedro supposed to let the old codger hit him? :eyes:

15. No. But he didn't have to slam Zimmer to the ground.
Pedro saw him coming. He could have moved out of the way. But nope, he had to throw an old man to the ground.

12. It's only a RECENT phenomenon that we have the 2nd highest payroll
the last two seasons to be precise, whereas the Yankees have had the highest payroll for over a decade. That gives you plenty of time to amass a formidable team.
