2. That's a lot like asking why
people from Beantown hate the name Beantown.

But then again, maybe it isn't after all.

3. I dunno. I was born there, and I've always encountered this
So sometimes I call myself a 'Friscan from Frisco, and I stay to watch the panties wad.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Fuckin' 'Friscans from Frisco!

We used the panties metaphor independently of each other. Some sort of Frisco mind meld.

4. I don't
I think it's funny as hell. Use it myself. I have no idea why people get their panties in a bunch over it.

6. Frisco is a great town
you have Copper Mt., Keystone, Loveland and Breckenridge in your backyard. What skier wouldn't be proud to say I'm from Frisco.

12. It's only "The City"...
(capitalized and in quotation marks, even when spoken) to people from Marin County.

Say "The City" within 100 miles of NYC, and you're talking about Manhattan.

I'm sure it's the same for every major city except Los Angeles, where there is no city, only suburbs.

13. I was there last weekend and I was shocked at the eliteness there
that city has really lost its core to me. Ok, I'm not up there all the time, but it seems every time I go it's more arrogant for lack of a better word.

shame really.. I used to love it up there for the people, now I feel like it's a more historical Bel Air or something.

flame away.... :-)

22. A lot of that has to do with the money that poured into that place
The latte-lapping idiots from the rich part of town thought they owned the whole city and started moving in on the cooler, working-class areas with their BMW's and whatnot. Now the whole place reeks of their pretentiousness.

17. In honour of Emperor Norton?
"Whoever after due and proper warning shall be heard to utter the abominable word "Frisco," which has no linguistic or other warrant, shall be deemed guilty of a High Misdemeanor, and shall pay into the Imperial Treasury as penalty the sum of twenty-five dollars." By Order of His Imperial Majesty Norton I, Emperor of the United States And Protector of Mexico

23. Yep, and we need the dough.
Mind you, it's only a High Misdemeanor, but refusing to pay the penalty is a felony, punishable by flogging.
