Damn M5.8 epicenter was practically under my house
I was just about to retire for the night here in Japan when the worst earthquake I have ever felt struck. I was sitting on the floor and it felt like the house was going to be shaken off its foundation. Then I turned on NHK (like PBS) for the earthquake update and saw that the big X showing the epicenter on their map couldn't have been more than a couple of miles away from my house. Magnitude 5.8 quake, hypocenter 36 miles below the ground. Japanese seismic intensity of 5-, meaning that stuff was falling off the shelves and you better get under a table.
