You aren't supposed to wear white shoes before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. This does NOT include tennis shoes and it doesn't include most clothing, though it wouldn't be real cool to wear a white blazer or white pants in November, unless you are a sno-cone man, and if so, whatchoo doing selling sno-cones in November, dimwit?

White in dress clothing and shoes is considered a summer color.

But people don't really follow that rule as much anymore. And it doesn't apply to white dressy button down shirts (oxford shirts, etc.).

On edit: that's why there's "winter white" a sort of an off-white that you can get away with in the winter. My wedding dress was "winter white" because I got married in December.
