Does anyone else despise this new Hummer ad with the kid on his
first day of school but he isn't worried and everyone thinks he is cool because of the Hummer his Mom drops him off from?

I've seen it multiple times already and it is the most shallow and superficial thing I have ever seen. It is focused on Kids "keeping up with the Joneses". Instant popularity because of your parent's car.

That is obviously the demographic it is looking for but it is stunningly superficial and materialistic - traits they obviously need to continue to encourage in children.

Ohh, my kid is having trouble making friends. I think I will buy a Hummer so everyone will love him or her.

2. YES!
I hate all the Hummer commercials. They make me very mad. Plus I live in Texas, and so many people drive them here. Grrr.

4. They are placing the child in the adults place
I guess its hard for some adults to admit that they want a certain car only to boost their fragile ego. Its less direct to send that message through the child, since the commercial is appealing to such immature instincts.

5. It's NOT just a commercial
It affects our kids who have been raised in a stew of commercialism, I wonder what would happen if we really did have crisis. What if they lost all of their material possessions??? Could they cope?? Could they rise to the challenge??? It's up to us as parents to make sure they are about more than the sum of their video games!!!

6. It's not the greatest statement, but it's a fact.
My 8th grade son loves it when I drop him at school in the Porsche instead of the Honda. It's not any different than when we were kids and I suppose our grandchildren will be the same way.

"Cool" means a lot to kids. I think that's OK. It's as adults that we have a responsibility to look beyond that.

7. Funny....
My daughter LOVED it when I'd pick her up from school in my '72 Kombi...
but it had the "Porsche Engine" in it, the 1700 DP...

Now, this is a '74, mine was a '72, turn sigs were below the headlights. And mine was painted in Porter "Safety Blue" industrial enamel.

25. Where did he get a transaxle?
Mine blew the tranny and I had to send it to the glue factory. Could NOT find a replacement anywhere....

I was out on a date with it once, and we were heading down the interstate and she said "I sure like what this does to my boobs!" I looked over and they were bouncing up and down very nicely...and I was too DENSE to take the HINT!

8. I hated the one with the kid building the wood H-2...
...and then cheating by cutting the course at the coaster car race.

What did THAT prove? "It's not how you play the game, but whether you WIN..."?

14. I think the go-cart one is worse
Hey, you drive a Hummer, you don't have to follow the rules, champ!

Brilliant message for the kiddos, and a crystalization of the Freeper mindset. The only thing that ad lacked was the Hummer go-cart flattening one of his rivals' vehicle.

I saw it. Made me ill. I know the Hummer is targeted toward conspicuous consumption folks, but the kid is now basking in the glow of his mom's cool contraption? It's just so dumb as to cause nausea.

22. I hate ads with kids in them period
I hate the manipulation the use of kids in advertising engenders-unless it's a kid product, like diapers, toys, whatever kids use these day. Even then...

But Christ-kids to sell cars, furniture, political candidates? Someone should be arrested for pimping
