I have never voted for the "real" winner of any presidential election...

2. I voted for Jerry Springer.

He was running in the Dem primaries for governor in my first election, back in 1982. Of course, he wasn't a shill for violent ignorance, back then, only a former Cincinnati mayor who spoke very well.

Still, it's both a point of pride and shame that I did. I met him that year, too, as well as his opponent -- it was something sponsored by Scripps-Howard Publishing called State Government Day, for Ohio high school newspaper editors, of which I was one.

Maybe being a high school newspaper editor is almost as embarrassing as voting for Jerry Springer, I don't know.

But, I didn't do what my friends wanted me to do. I did not put dog poo in the hideous initiation drink we made her consume. It was plenty awful though.
