8. I agree, but if you ask a somewhat unusual question
they will be more likely to remember you than if you ask what they do or if they are married.
Ask what the best book they ever read was. Or who they would most like to spend an hour talking to.

11. If you don't want to alienate them,
try pets, hobbies, cooking or food will lead to cultures. Art, music are good. Weather and gardening always bring me around to how much we've fucked up the environment and global warming.
