What time do the polls open where you're at?
Mine starts at 6:30am here in Cleveland. I'm going before work. I have a feeling that the evenings will be packed so I would rather get it done in the morning. Then again, maybe it will be packed in the morning also.

7. That should be enough
Photo id and voter reg card. If you have any correspondence from the Board of Elections, it probably wouldn't hurt to bring that along in case there's a problem. If there is a problem, there should be Kerry or DNC reps available or call 1-866-OUR-VOTE.

Congrats on voting in your first election !

3. Also in Cle here...
planning to be AT THE PRECINCT DOOR at 6:30 with registration mailing, driver's license and passport in hand. Might even wear the same clothes as in my passport ID photo. That's admittedly overdoing it, but I'm not fucking around.

8. They kept calling me John Elms
A few canvassers came to my door and they had that name on their list for my address. I have also received voting related mail with that name on it. That's not my name and no one by that name has ever lived at my address. I ended up calling the board of elections to make sure that I was indeed the one registered to vote at my address.

9. That's messed up.
Did you get your precinct mailer from the BOE? If that has the correct name on it, bring it along. If not, something's screwy and hopefully there's still time for you to deal with it.

When I got mine, first thing I did was check the spelling of my last name, which is clunky and Teutonic and easily misspelled. My housemate's name is like that too. Both were spelled correctly, much to our relief.

I wonder if there's a John Elms out there who's going to get screwed on Tuesday?

10. I did get the mailer
It has my correct name. When I told the woman at the board about it, she said she checked the name John Elms and there isn't that name in the computer.
