Arnold (Schwarzenegger) to Mel Gibson: You owe me a call on stem cells
Arnold to Mel Gibson: You owe me a call on stem cells

Thursday, October 28, 2004

(10-28) 11:56 PDT LOS ANGELES (AP) --

Message to Mel: Arnold called back.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed disbelief Thursday that Mel Gibson thought the governor all but hung up on him when the "The Passion of the Christ" director called to talk about embryonic stem cell research.

The Republican governor is supporting a California ballot initiative to sell $3 billion in bonds to finance stem-cell research, putting him at odds with the Bush administration, which limits federal funding for similar studies.

Gibson told ABC's "Good Morning America" that he has an "ethical problem" with the research, and called the governor Wednesday night to talk about it.

3. I know...
but Why is two past their prime action stars squabbling actually making the news, as in AP or Reuters? One would think there would be something more important to report on. I watched GMA and the way they hyped the promo of the interview, one would think that Gibson had converted to judiasm:)

4. Funny?
I find it disgusting. All I can say to Mel Gibson is "fucking hypocrite."

He feels it's unfair that his taxpayer dollars may go to stem cell research, something he finds "unethical".

Lessons in ethics from Mel? A man who has made his living by glorifying violence over and over and over in his movies?

Personally, I find war unethical, especially the one in Iraq - read just a moment ago on Yahoo news that an estimated 100,000 civilians have died in Iraq so far. But a far larger percentage of my tax dollars goes for war than will ever go to any lifesaving medical research.

You make me sick, Mel. :puke:

5. What I found funny about the article was
nothing to do with the topic of stem cells, or anyones views on war.
It had to do with two men squabbling about a phone call, and the fact that this story even made it to the press. This is one of those "misunderstandings" if you will, that should have been kept between the two of them.

I find it "funny" that Mel decided to air it on TV.
