Okay what movie should I take my wife to see tonight?
http://movies.yahoo.com/

We REALLY want to see "National Treasure" -that looks like a really good movie at least interesting- but it isn't being released until the 19th. So far "The Incredibles" looks the best. "Alfie" is out as we saw the trailer for it when we saw "The Forgotten" so basically we have seen whole movie ( :eyes: God I hate that )plus it doesn't look that interesting anyway.

Any suggestions? Ideas? Oh "The Grudge" is out too I hear that one is rank.

4. Oh I would love too
but she probably wouldn't go for that (she hasn't seen it enough to get it yet) and the screaming kids would be a bit much I think.

7. -
I haven't heard one yet but I myself have already crafted a couple of REALLY bad jokes about that movie.

See I can't even reply without double entendre. I hear it is a great film (that is the best I could do).

5. Team America World Police
It's a political satire set in an action flick that you're not supposed to take seriously.

10. The Incredibles - hand down
A professional cartoonist buddy of mine saw a sneak preview a month ago and said it was ... well ... INCREDIBLE!

Fantastic Pixar animation you expect, but he said it was a great story to boot. Personally, I can't wait.

11. The Grudge
Ok, it's directed by Sam Raimi, of Evil Dead and Spiderman fame. He also directed the remake of The Quick and the Dead and directed/produced shows like Xena: Warrior Princess and Briscoe County Junior. His movies are usually action oriented and campy.

The grudge is a departure from that. It's an adaptation of a Japanese horror film like Ringu (the ring) and has a similar look and feel to it.

I thought it was creepier than the ring, but it lacked the same level of plot development. It's plenty scary and not very gross (not a gorefest) but there's just enough gore to freak you out, in precise measured shock amounts. Enough fright to make a date get a little "touchy feely" if you know what I mean. ;-)

It's also a very short movie. I don't like horror movies in general, but I love horror fiction like H.P. Lovecraft. These movies (The Grudge/The Ring) are fantastic in that they can scare the crap out of you without a lot of blood flying and body part dismemberment.

However, I wouldn't let kids go anywhere near The Grudge. I gave it a solid "B" rating.

That is a "credit"? Easily one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

14. Raimi didn't direct.
He produced and had the Japanese director of the original helm the remake. Still sucks, from what I hear.

13. I may go see Napoleon Dynamite tonight.
Need a laugh.

If Garden State is still out, it's supposed to be great. I really wanna see Incredibles as well.

Saw was putrid. A Seven rip-off that I laughed at openly.

Alfie looks boring. Word about the trailers that tell the entire story--worst offender of all time must be the shot of Willy escaping in the Free Willy trailer.

I really liked Friday Night Lights, btw, but don't know if your wife would. I can only say that I would not have taken my wife to it as she would've made the wrinkled nose the entire time.

BUT! Betcha the last doughnut that "Natl Treasure" is total ass. Nic Cage in his "Con Air" mode, rip-off Davinci Code script, and the director, if it's who I think it is, is a hack.

17. Funny that is why we wanted to see it
Now I am willing to admit that my wife and I have a horrible record of which movies we see in the theater. We actually laugh about it ourselves-the Harrison Ford Brad Pitt IRA movie was one where we just looked at each other half way through the movie (didn't have to say anything) and started laughing....at ourselves.

She loved the Davinci Code and plays games on line in the problem solving/finding clues mode not shoot 'em up helicopter types so that is why it looked like something we might want to see. I'll report back to you personally after we see "National Treasure".

How about What the Bleep do We Know?

I would like to see Zhou Yu's Train, but I'll see anything with Gong Li in it.

I've read nothing but great reviews, and the director is Alexander Payne, who directed Election and Citizen Ruth, 2 GREAT flicks.
