7. See the option in Message options that says
HTML lookup? It tells you how to do the little tricks.

Example:
Bold Text
Italic Text

Basically, if you wanted to bold a word, this means, you'd hit the bracket box, type b, then do the other side of the bracket, then type whatever word or words you wanted to appear in bold, then type the bracket box again (sorry, can't remember the right word for it), then a / (slash mark), then a b, then the end bracket. It's really not that hard at all once you get the hang of it.

2. Easy.
Bracketing a word or phrase with will make it italics.

Bracketing a word or phrase with will make it bold
faced.

Bracketing a word or phrase with a [font size="+2"
color="red"]font tag will change size and/or
color. Feel free to omit size or color specifications
depending on what you want.

Moving text? No idea. Does DU support that gawd-awful marquee
tag?

5. So the examples above would look like this
Bracketing a word or phrase with will make it italics.

Bracketing a word or phrase with will make it bold faced.

Bracketing a word or phrase with a font tag will change size and/or color. Feel free to omit size or color specifications depending on what you want.

Moving text? No idea. Does DU support that gawd-awful marquee tag?

Forgot to mention that you can mix and match tags as you like.

12. My question...
is how do you fix it so that you can use brackets like you did above and the code does not take affect?

13. Ah
Just check the little box in the reply form that says "Check here if you want to format your message in plain text. Use for posting code snippets." Right next to "Message format" in bold letters.

4. Here's some
Okay, html codes for much of the above are the same as normal, except that you use a square bracket instead of greater than or less than signs.

So, you use an open square bracket then an i then a close square bracket to start italicizing, then an open square bracket then a / then an i then a close square bracket to stop the italicizing.

Same with bold, only you use a b instead of an i.

Increasing font size, instead of an i or a b, you use the word big.

Color and moving text, I'm not sure of. The above are the ones I'm familiar with.

Also, note when you go to post a message. Above the subject line is the following:

Message options - HTML use enabled. Use [] instead of <>.

There's a link to the HTML lookup table.

Good luck

italics type a "{i}" (replace { with < (the unshifted bracket)on all these) at the beginning and {/i} at the end[br />Bold is doen the same way with b instead of i
and font size is done like this:
{font color="color" size="size" face="face"}Text{/font}
Moving text I can't help you with though

9. dang let's see
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 07:22 PM by mlle_chatte
for italics do at the beginning of the word or phrase and
where you want it to end

Bolding

strike (draw a line through-a good jokey thing) [s] [/s]

The other I know the font size see the html table
,
and
increase font size one way. Use [/(whatever code you
used at the beginning)] to stop the code. you can combine
stuff (italic, bold, eg) too. just use both at once

I had to check the 'Check here if you want to format your
message in plain text. Use for posting code snippets' box so
this shows

10. Look up basic HTML code tricks.
Instead of <, though, you need to use brackets (under "=" and "-").

<i>Hello</i> yields Hello,
<b>Bold</i> yields Bold,
<font size="+1">font size,</font> yields font size,

<font color="FFCCFF">Color</font> yields Color.
(In this case, you can use hex numbers, but I think certain values other than "FFCCFF" work too, "blue", "green", "red", etc.)

As for moving text, I'm not sure about that.

19. it's html with a twist
Very annoying to me because you have to use brackets instead of standard HTML with the <> thingy's I'm used to. If you use [] instead of <> it works on DU but screws up your typing habits for everything else.
