12. It's an old recipe my mother had--basically a butter cream recipe...

...I know it by heart. The trick is starting with flour and milk that you heat to a paste, and then beat in sugar, butter and eggs. And add cocoa, like I'm doing. It's the best frosting I've ever come across--be careful with the paste mixture--constant stirring or it gets lumpy!

15. I lied--I tend to guesstimate these days...3/4 cup milk and 3 tbsps. flour

heat over medium and stir until it forms a thick paste. And when I say stir, I mean stir constantly. It can get very lumpy easily, and if that happens, throw it out and start over.

Cool.

Beat together with 2 eggs, 1 stick butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla.

Add any kind of flavoring if you'd like as you beat.

Fairly simple except for the paste. It really is much creamier than any store bought or any recipe I've come across!
