Poll question: What is the best song from Led Zeppelin IV?
Zeppelin IV is probably one of the greatest albums ever made. It set the standard for hard rock. For me personally, it has taken me to places that no other album has been able too. I think it is excellent. And despite the hype, "Stairway to Heaven" is a great song.

1. when the levee breaks
just because john bonham played it with his hands instead of sticks. And because nobody else will vote for it.

3. Somebody else will.
I love that song.

(Physical Graffiti is my favorite Led Zeppelin album, though.)

2. Whatever all you Stairway to Heaven syncophants!
Black Dog is the best song on that cd!
(And Stairway and Black Dog are the only two I know!)

8. Jimmy Page got the solo on "Stairway" done on only 2 takes.
And for the minute or so that it goes on, it just soars. I love the album as a whole, but that song hasn't become whatever it is today by mistake.

9. Despite its (ab)use in those commercials
I had to vote for "Rock and Roll." It is the exemplar of the perfect, terse rock 'n roll song.

PS: Dear Cadillac marketing executive, why did you chose a song about not getting any to sell your car to older men who have trouble getting some? Just wondering....

10. Ha, I voted "strategically"
It's a very very very tough call, and I was leaning towards voting "When the Levee Breaks"...but then I saw that my close second favorite "Battle of Evermore" only had one vote, so....

Man, Sandy Denny (rest her beautiful soul) sings on it! (Any other Fairport Convention fans here?). And I am a sucker for well-placed Tolkien references (as my username would imply). :)
