I've gone off the house-husband deep end
Yep.

Put a cute note in the lunch I packed for my wife this morning.

Now if I just get addicted to soap operas, the circle will be complete. :)

1. Hey, soap operas are easy to get addicted to,
I take my lunch hour at the time that my favorite one is on, and am usually late rushing back to work afterwards, lol!

I think it's great, though, that men are becoming increasingly comfortable being the ones to stay at home with the kids while the wife works, to hell with the howling of the wingnuts. I think it's good for the kids, too.

Do you have a single brother that wouldn't mind being a house husband? I'm a single mom, and my son is twelve, so he wouldn't be as much of a hassle as a younger or preschool child, lol!

2. and more
You have to lie on the couch, eating bon-bons and reading slim yellow French novels in between soapies.
A half hour before your wife gets home, pull out your shirt-tail, rumple your hair, smear a little dirt on your hands and face, and greet her at the door with the story about what a rough day you've had.
;-)

3. I feel for ya
I spent several years out of the workforce while my kids were little. I took up putting cute notes in lunches, also canning, quilting, cute craft projects, All My Children... 20 years later I can still turn on All My Children and recognize some of the characters.

It's pretty good right now. Robb should try it.

10. We watched back in the early '70s
Mom was at home, and I was in kindergarten 1/2 days ...

The freakiest thing was, I turned it on not long ago, and *I* recognized a couple of characters! Oh, Susan Lucci, you vixen, you.

11. We did too!
Except I was in college!

A couple dozen of us, almost all guys, would take over the TV lounge in the Commons to watch "All My Brats". We were way hot for Erika.

13. I used to watch Another World...
I just LOVED Ben McKinnon. He should have hooked up with Marley instead of that dog of a cousin of his.

If I ever got a "cute note" in my lunch from Tombo, I'd just have to kill him.

6. You think that's bad?
One morning, I put a loving note everywhere she was likely to see one in the process of getting ready for work; bathrobe, toothbrush, fridge door, her lunch, etc, etc. How disgusting is that? :-)

17. If I ever change my mind......
My wife will hunt me down like a dog, and she will find me. Oh yes, she will find me. And then she will kill me. :D

That's a sweet offer, prolesunited. Couldn't possibly accept. :-)

BTW, I was just joking. I'm not the type to go after married men.

9. But did you write that note and sign it from the dog?
That, my friend, would be going off the deep end.

12. Just say no to soap operas!
Do it yourself decorating shows are much more fun. Also, if you do some fixin' and decoratin' your wife will think you are super cool!

...for reasons I have yet to fully fathom.

Does West Wing count as a soap? :D

15. If you look at the other Lounge threads ...
Apparently, some people think DU qualifies as a soap. I certainly wouldn't argue, some days.

20. You may wish to stay well away
from a daytime program called "Passions." Part soap opera, part paradoy of itself, part horror and science fiction. It will suck you in like a demented Hoover.

23. I have been
in the past. I spent some time in the hospital with nothing to entertain but daytime television. Took me the better part of a year to get past it.

24. Who was Mary?
Back in the 80's there was a wacko home repair show with a ditsy blonde named Mary. I so had the hots for her. It may have gone off the air because after almost a year of trying, she finally got around to painting her daughter's bicycle.

Last year. Except for the lack of $ it was very cool. I was Mr. Mom and loved the hell out of it.
