This is the young man that moved in with us
This is Lucas. He's a great kid. It's too bad that his parents constantly threatened to throw him out, and constantly abused him emotionally.

Anyway, I love him. He fits in pretty well in my home, and I'm happy to have him here. He has a place with me no matter what.

He's in the same JROTC unit as my son--that's why the uniform

4. I'm not exactly sure what the excuse was this week.
One week it was because he wasn't home to take the dog out. Another week it was because he didn't take out the trash. Another week it was because he wasn't home to make a junk food run for his mother....

You get the idea. The kid is not in trouble w/ the law, he doesn't do drugs, he gets pretty good grades, and from what I can see is very respectful of his elders (his JROTC commander wouldn't let him get away with it if he were not).

I think his mother is mentally unstable. This is not the first kid she's thrown out of the house.

6. Looks like he already earned a shitload of medals!
My greatest admiration goes to people who are willing to be the parents for children that they deserve.

I am forever reminded of that great line in Parenthood about how you don't need a license to be a parent. I really wish there were a way to require it. So many people out there who have kids are useless filth (parental-wise speaking) who should have been sterilized while in junior high. (and I say that with full knowledge that, obviously, we never want to get into sterilization - I'm just offering it as a rant with full realization that it's unrealistic, dangerous, and awful. So all you knee-jerk hyper-emotionalistic assholes can just remain quiet and try to put your underwear back in its proper order, for chrissake).

13. What a handsome young man
and bravo to you for making him a part of your family! :toast:

He sounds like a wonderful young man who will do you proud. It's a shame his own mother couldn't recognize that.

14. Parents who do that shit to their kids...
...should have their asses kicked eight ways to Sunday! When I think
of the long-term psychological damage with which I'm still dealing
because of my father's "Words don't hurt anyone" mentality....:nuke::grr:
