My Kitty has Bumps
under her chin...lots of them. About the size of bb's. And I think it's a little late for puberty. Any thoughts?

1. cat acne
seriously. A lot of cats are allergic to plastic also. If you're using a plastic bowl for her food/water, pop down to the pet store and get a stainless steel one.

4. Do they look like pimples?
Seriously--kitties do get zits. Plastic can be a big cause of it, but if you have any kind of cat food container that isn't ceramic and washed fairly often it can give your cat problems.

I had a cat that developed it and it was two weeks worth of the pink stuff to clear it up. Since that time, cat bowls go thru the dishwasher or at least the sink with soap and water every couple of days. (I feed dry food. Wet would be even more likely to be a problem, I'd think!)

Is kitty scratching a lot? I suppose it could be flea issues as well. You may want to check for flea dirt on your cat...

6. Probably acne.
Change to glass, ceramic, or stainless steel food bowls and wash them scrupulously with hot soapy water daily. You should also try to keep her chin really clean. You can get some cleansing pads from your vet or go to the nearest drugstore and pick up some Stridex pads (no, really!) and clean her chin after every meal. Acne isn't life-threatening but can be gross and disfiguring. If her chin is really swollen, or if it looks like her "zits" are infected, make an appointment to see the vet and get some antibiotics. Sometimes a short-acting cortisone injection is needed to get the swelling down.
