Woohoo! Finally found a GOOD job!
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 02:57 AM by Champ
After months and months of searching and missed opportunities, I finally land a job in Tempe in Data Entry. I'm only 18 with a GED plus I have no office experience or real work experience(Intramural Sports Official(My new job doesn't interfere with the schedule so I can still ref games!! :bounce:) and General Laborer) but they had alot of positions open(still do in fact), I went there it was an open enrollment process for anyone to come. They tested the hell out of me but I passed the 4 tests, all the paperwork I had to fill out was actually the difficult part. I had to sign my name atleast 20 times!

The job pays roughly $250 a week and offer great benefits: Health and Life Insurance Plan, FMLA, Holiday Pay, Service Inducement Bonus(work 1,500 straight hours and recieve 40 hours($8.00/h) of pay), 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Credit Union Membership, they offer a Pay Card option which I jumped on since I don't have direct deposit and it works just like a debit card, and Open Line(Not sure exactly what that is). It is a temp-to-hire job that hires based on performance and the employee's desire to work there full time which I start this upcoming Monday!

Finally some GOOD NEWS!! :toast:  :toast:

Good luck with that internship, I like hearing about good things happening to good people. Whatever happens in life, don't ever change who you are. Good Luck!

Guy really sounds like my kind of democrat. Good things should happen to good people, it pisses me off when vice versa happens.

12. Definately
I remember one time when a woman said she felt sorry for me after something bad went against me. She said she felt sorry for me because I was a good person and there were things going against me. I told her 'Don't feel sorry for me. I have drive, motivation, work ethic, and I'm like you said a good person. Don't worry about me, I'll be ok'

14. I just get cynical
some assholes get everything, some good people get nothing. Not saying I am all good and no bad but damn I think I am a good guy, I feel I get cursed sometimes, other times, blessed.

15. It seems that way
But in the end I feel that the assholes can't find time to enjoy life, can't find true friends, basically whatever goes around comes around. Like the late 2pac said "Better days is coming, Keep ya head up"

But with my calculator, that translates to just $6.25 per hour for a 40 work week.. Is that a livable wage up there in the Tempe/Phx area?
I make a little over $8/per hour down here south of Tucson and can barely pay my bills much less put anything away for a rainy day, much less retirement.

Sorry to be such a pessimist but jobs in AZ tend to suck when it comes to wages.

11. I get paid either $8.00 or $8.50
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 03:19 AM by Champ
I don't work 40 hours, I will be working 6 hours a day Monday-Friday(30 Hours). Thanks though for the Congrats, It is livable if you have someone to help you out with the rent and stuff(I can afford a cheap aparment). I don't think I'll be living alone in the immediate future. I agree with what you said about AZ jobs.

I recommend Westaff to anyone. There is an office in every US Major Market, United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, Australia, and New Zealand. They assist Staffing employees and clients to provide flexible, part-time, and full-time in the areas of administration, call center, and light industry. <Slightly modified paragraph from the back of their handbook>

Seriously, I wish I went throught them a looong time ago. First day, find a job. They recommend you express your goals, offer flexibility based on the client's desire such as choice of shift and part-time-full time jobs. They also encourage you (according to what they say) to ask questions if you don't know or understand something, and let them know when you acquire a new skill. Depending on what it may be might land me a better paying assignments(again according to what they say). They said the longer I remaind a client I have moving up. I was shocked to see an atmosphere like that after literally hundreds of applications and a half dozen interviews. I thought could only imagine of having a job like this a few days ago.
