Can any Anime fans tell me what OVA means?

I'm perusing DVD ads and this OVA business is all over the place. Any clue???

So if something says OVA + TV Series, it means all the TV episodes plus the produced directly for video material... ???

4. OVAs and anime

When we think of direct to video in the states we think of a really really bad movie. In anime OVAs are nothing like this. They are often experiments or twists on story lines that do not fit the established story. Tenchi is a good example of how the OVAs went all over the place. They change the nature of the characters and relationships and experiment with the flavor of the series. OVAs also experiment with animation styles and such.
