I do have a soft spot for Spiderman. It was the first comic I got into as a kid. I was surprised to see Sandman on your list, I never saw Gaiman's version as much of a "superhero." Green lantern is OK in my book. He has been portrayed as a good lefty. My all time favorite was Swamp Thing. (Both versions)

I've written 28 plots in a week of activity and it's been the biggest damburst of creativity I've ever known. Apart from that I can't say anything more about this except that it's probably the last thing anyone will expect.

"I have two other major DCU projects also in the works and well underway. As I say, I've been experiencing an outrageous explosion of fresh ideas since I completed X-Men. I'm so excited about this stuff I wish I could tell you more, but as usual everything will be announced nearer the time.

He's just some guy who learned magic from an old guy in the mountains, but that magazine that's all about comics (I forgot the name) ranked him the 4th or 5th most powerful hero in all of comic books.

This guy has defeated gods. He actually went into their realm/dimension and beat 'em down.

Like I said this guy ain't got no superpowers, just some stuff he learned from an old guy.


I also vote for Xavier of the X-Men. Name another guy who sits in a wheel chair that can kick a bunch of superheroes asses.

MARVEL SETTLES WITH JOE SIMON

Putting to end a years-long legal battle over the ownership of the Captain America character, it was announced early this morning that Marvel and Cap creator Joe Simon have reached a settlement in regards to the character, with Simon assigning Marvel any and all copyrights to the character.

Simon’s battle for Captain America dates back to 1999 when the creator filed paperwork to terminate the transfer of copyright he made to Marvel Comics in 1940. While controversy broke out shortly after the filing of what Simon’s role in the creation of the character really was (as many have strongly suggested Jack Kirby was at least a co-creator of the character), Simon was following in the footsteps of the widow and daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, who had done the same with Superman and DC Comics – a matter which, reportedly is still yet to be settled.

Simon filed the paperwork in late 1999, and, if his efforts had succeeded initially, the copyright would have been returned to him on December 7th, 2001.

Much legal maneuvering ensued following the initial filing, the case moved laboriously toward the courts, with the most recent update coming in June of this year, when Simon’s lawyers were forced to go back to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and try to get a jury trial.

I've read reviewers who hate everything else he's written, but are currently enjoying this run. I've only read the last issue, so I wouldn't know. It was an interesting take, I'll say, but they're now getting to the point that the reset button will have to be pushed at some point for the series to continue in a shared universe.

Since most of the other GL's are dead after Hal went nuts and turned into what's his name, Kyle has like an entire GL Corps worth of power, he doesn't have to charge his ring, it has zero weaknesses, and for a while he was so powerful he was able to give GL John Stewart back the ability to walk. But then Superman got all whiny about someone being more powerful than him and gave Kyle a guilt trip and he went back to being a regular superhero, though the ring still has no weaknesses.

Think about it, a rich kid runs around beating up bad guys who probably just got laid off by Wayne Corp. and are trying to feed their families. And what gives him the right to break-and-enter, perform illegal surveillance, and so on? No one, that's who.

Green Lantern, on the other hand, fights for the forces of good defending the galaxy, while asking for nothing in return (except maybe a fan club).

Oh, and, by the way, Green Lantern is no longer susceptible to yellow. Kyle retooled the ring after giving up his Ion status so that it doesn't hurt him anymore.
